Try cleaning the connector under your Air Flow Meter. Its that box that the air intake goes to before going to the engine. If that isnt working, your fuel pump wont either, as it has control over your fuel pump.
Seems air flow component could be the culprit but i would also check the wire harness under the hatch carpet theres an acess hatch for fuel pump acess check conn at the harness for fuel pump also try to wire to direct 12 volt supply to see if pump has bad spot on armature it has happened to us as the brushes wear out , give pump a sharp swat with nylon hammer while key is on be careful not to hit hoses or wires good luck

I have the same problem with my 1977z, I have replaced the; cold start valve, thermotime switch, temp sensor, AFM, computer, fuel pump relays. still the pump will not come on in the "ON" position. I ran a 12v jumper to the fuel pump and it comes on, but still hard to start. The car eventually start because the AFM flap opens during starting, and turns on the fuel pump.
If you have fixed your problem, I would be so grateful for your input.
Thanks. Alan K.
