I need help changing out the master cylinder in my '94 toyota 4x4 pickup truck. It is a 5speed, i have already changed out the slave cylinder and installed the master cylinder but i still can not get the clutch to engage.

Did you bleed the system?? you must bleed the system from the clutch slave. if this has been done, I need more info!! How does the clutch pedal feel, is the clutch slave engaging at all??

There are a couple of possibilities; worn clutch plate, failed pressure plate, possible hanging up of the throw-out bearing.
Also, some hydraulic clutches have a throw adjustment on the slave cylinder that may need adjustment after replacing the slave cylinder.

Start with the slave (release) cylinder. First take off the line and plug it with a golf tee or a short piece of hose with a bolt in the end. Remove the slave cylinder. Fill the new one with fluid and do the reverse. Then do the same thing with the master cylinder being careful not to lose any fluid. You may need to add fluid and bleed the system when finished.
how is the throwout bearing? Is it still there?
If you are bleeding it correctly with a power bleeder, master first then slave; I would be looking into the mechanical parts, like the bearing and yoke.
Check the clutch master and slave cylinders for leaks, look behind the rubber boots as the boots can trap the fluid. If all of that is good then you use normal bleeding procedures: step on the clutch, have someone open the slave bleeder to let fluid and any air out, close slave bleeder, repeat.
You still have air in the system. Have you bled it at the slave cylinder yet? If so try unbolting the slave cylinder and fully extend the cylinder, careful not to push the cup out. Sometimes you have to fully extend it and then bolt it back in place to get the air to move.
Clutch system works exactly like hydraulic brake system. Check everything for leaks, make sure slave has not rusted and frozen in place and check that master cylinder is not bypassing internally. It's a good idea to bleed it out as well...fluid is hygroscopic and likely has drawn in water from the air over time (not good for system) That applies to brakes as well.
take it back to the shop they have done something wrong .. its either got air in the lines to the slave cylinder or the clutch is not adjusted properly.. thanks jerry
