The EGR valve will be mounted on the intake manifold, and may have either wiring or a vacuum hose attached to it. Type 'EGR valve' into Google images, and you will see what it looks like.

EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve helps to reduce the exhaust emission of automobiles. It recycles some gases discharged from the engine by returning them to the intake manifold, where the engine can burn these gases again, thus reducing emissions.
The exhaust gas recirculation valve is located in the engine compartment (under the hood). Most engines need exhaust gas recirculation to meet emission standards. If the exhaust gas recirculation valve is broken, the car will not pass the exhaust. My Suzuki Jimny has had such a question before, so I am more qualified to answer this question
must be 2.5L V6 ,right,? (not all cars have same motor, world wide) its very much hidden way in back of the engine. just like oil filter, a big pain. see alldata dot com. i'ts all there. here is the v6 removed, rear view ! top center ,is EGR main. http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/O2%20sensor/25L/backside2.jpg
In fixing this code, it is quite common for people to just replace the EGR valve only to have the OBD code return. The EGR valve is not always the culprit.
Use a vacuum pump and pull the EGR valve open while monitoring engine RPM's & DPFE voltage. There should be a noticable difference in RPM's with the EGR open
Clean out the EGR valve and/or tubing to remove deposits
Check the voltage at the DPFE, compare to specified values (refer to a repair manual for your specific model)
Replace the DPFE sensor (with a good quality / OEM one)
You may have a EGR valve plugged exhaust gas passage, so when it is opened the systems computer doesn't see any change in the O2 signal voltage. To check this manually pull open the EGR valve, the engine should run very rough and will stall out most times, if you open the valve up and see no change in the engine idle the passages are plugged with carbon and must be cleaned. As long as you have this EGR problem the car will not pass smog.
