I just changed the mapsensor, both fuel injectors and truck will start but wont stay running, I have a 4.3L 2wd and TBI System, dont know what to do at this point so far engine seems good, just did major tuneup, it was driving and then one day it just shut off , figured out it was the fuel injectors but now when those got changed and the throttle body got cleaned it wouldnt start , then replaced map sensor , it started but wont stay idle, dont know what to do at this point

Hi sunflowerisi, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? Have you checked fuel pressure? If you don't have a gage, try cracking the nut at the throttle body with the key on to see if you get a squirt.

Idle is controlled by Idle Air Control (IAC) and the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Check these, and then the EGR valve.

What size engine do you have in it? And, how many miles on it?? Well, I guess it really doesn't matter. At first thought it sounds like you are experienceing a fuel problem, and changing the throttlebody didn't solve your problem. I would start by looking and checking my fuel delivery system. The fact that you had to spray gas into the throttlebody tells me that fuel is not getting there. I would start with the least expensive thing to fix first. Check your gas filters. These are often , OFTEN, overlooked as a sorce of problems, and are rarely changed and often overlooked, and are the problem alot of the time. If that dosen't cure your problem check your fuel pump. Make sure it is delivering the proper pressure. I would bet your problem would be solved, but if it's not then next I would check the electrical components of your fuel system.

SOURCE: throttle body injectors not fiering but there is fuel pressure

the injectors are fired thru the engine cotrol module but it gets its signal to fire from the pick-up located inside the distributor if you are loosing injector pulse only the ignition module is bad if you are also loosing spark when you loose injector pulse your pick up is causing the problem if you replace the pick-up i recomend you change the ignition module when doing so because they work together and you have to remove the distributor to change the pick-up

It sounds like a MAP sensor going bad. MAP is short for manifold absolute pressure sensor, it senses the manifold pressure and applies the right amount of gas with the right amount of ignition timing so the car runs and performs well if this does not work properly. It throws off the whole loop cycle for the computer, which in turn makes it run badly and get poor fuel economy. It can causes the engine to have a lack of power, combined with a loss of fuel economy. Poor take offs and sometimes an occasional stalling may occur if the MAP sensor is faulty and sending the wrong signals to the ECM.
Hope this helps and thank you for using Fixya.

SOURCE: Truck will turn over but not start. Checked fuel

The ignition module located inside of the distributor is what generates the signal that the ECM (Engine Control Module) uses to time and fire the fuel injectors, as well as the signal to run the fuel pump and the dwell signal timing to fire the ignition coil. A faulty ignition module can cause any one of these systems to malfunction.

That does sound like a malfunction with the ignition module inside of the distributor, and you can remove the ignition module and have it tested for free at most auto part stores.

If you do purchase a new ignition module be sure that it does come with a silicone grease or a die-electric compound because it is a heat sink and the ignition module will burn up without it.

To install the new ignition module first clean out the mounting surface inside of the distributor. Then completely coat the metal contact surface under the ignition module with a thick coat the silicone grease or die-electric compound and do not leave any of the metal contact surface of the ignition module un-coated with the silicone grease or die-electric compound, and be very careful not to over-tighten the ignition module or it will be damaged.

I have a 89 rs camaro with the 5.0l can anybody offer suggestions on what the possible fuel system issues are with year and model? I've changed the fuel and air filters rebuilt tbi ran fuel system cl

check fuel pressure TBI injection fuel pressure should be 9 - 13 psi.make sure fuel pressure above 10 psi because throttle body need at least 10 psi. in order to work right.if all is good check see if PCM firing the fuel injectors.go to auto parts store buy noid light.to use noid light you have to disconnect fuel injector electrical connector then plug noid light into fuel injector connector.crank engine watch noid light should blink meaning PCM is firing fuel injectors if noid light steady not blinking PCM not working.if noid light dont light up you have open circuit in the fuel injectors wiring.if check engine light flashing have vechicle code scan.bad tps sensor will also cause problem you are having.

My 95 tahoe starts but dont stay on. Fuel wont stay pumping from tbi. Just swapped a motor from 80's camaro. Was running real good in box chevy perfect. Now fuel wont stay flowing out of injectors. Already...

did you install the oil pressure switch origional to the tahoe? The tahoe uses a low oil pressure shutdown, instead of an inertia switch to shut off the fuel pump in the event of an accident. If the pressure circuit does not close within 3 seconds after the engine starts the fuel pump shuts off. This is in case the truck is on its side or upside down the pump will shut off.

I have a 90 chevy k1500 350 tbi with same problem! I have traced problem to... after turning on key fuel pump kicks on when u crank it over injectors shoot gas and truck starts! After few seconds injectors stop spraying and truck dies! This can happen many times over and over! Eventually sometimes truck stays running and all is great! I changed ignition module, oil pressure sending unit (which i was told controls gas after vehicle is running) fuel filter, computer, fuel pump relay, I am at a loss now! Hope this helps and hope someone can help me!

1987 chevy s10 2.5l tbi will not start. changed bad fuel pump works well now strong pressure to throttle body. change fuel pressure switch, oil pressure switch, o2 sensor, map sensor, distrib cap, rotor,...

That eliminates the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. Have you checked the fuel injector itself for an open winding or stuck valve plunger? There should not be a steady 12 volts to the injector--if good injector, it would be spraying fuel steadily into the throttle body. But at least the engine should try to run if poorly. Take the injector out, dry it off with air, and intermittently apply 12 volts to one terminal while grounding the other. You should hear a click from inside every time you touch 12 volts. If not, replace it. If it does, it may be plugged with debris. Try blowing through it in reverse with compressed air.

93 yukon 350 wont stay running at idle

when you crank the engine do you see fuel spraying from injectors .if you dont check for power at injector connectors one side should power and the other will be ground controlled from pcm.you can test with a 12 volt test for both. first test with test light grounded for power then test with test lead clip to battery to pos to the other wire from pcm while cranking engine light should flash.if it does turn key off again lean over tbi and have somone turn key on and listen for fuel circulating through tbi unit if you hear it without cranking engine replace fuel pressure regulator.
