I have a 1999 VW Passat 1.8 turbo manual tranny (hydraulic clutch) with 100k mi. Clutch is not slipping but over the last couple weeks the clutch pedal is getting closer to the floor before disengaging. It is now down to floor and hard to change gears. The brake fluid resorvoir is full (and always has been). Is the slave cyclinder going or is it the clutch?

Try pulling it back? The only thing this sounds like is a faulty pressure plate,It will roll in gear?

96 geo prism lsi manual tranny 1.6 liter will only move a little rpm rev high little torque

check the clutch operation
if cable it is a faulty clutch cable and needs replacing
if hydraulic it will be the clutch master cylinder and needs replacing
if they are both new items then the clutch needs to come out as it could be oil on the clutch plate making it slip

Why does my clutch suddenly feel like its slipping on my merc capri xr2 turbo, engaging way to late after release of clutch pedal...hydraulic? mechanical? does it need a simple cable adjustment or flu

If you hit the gas in gear does it slip ? if its hydrolic and low fluid it wouldnt release the clutch you didnt put the year but i would have to go with adjusted at the tranny easy if thats the case also maybe the clutch is gone and theres a chatching point soyou dont mess up the flywheel those are spendy even used it engages the tranny starts the car and most importantly ballances the engine there for removing some metal could throw the balance way off

I have a 2000 vw beetle turbo manual transmission when i try to drive it it is not going into each gear could it be the clutch?

Does it grind the gears in the transmission. If yes, it could be the clutch/pressure plate. It could be the clutch hydraulic slave cylinder not working. Check all these thing out before purchasing a new clutch/pressure plate. When VW is running does if like the vehicle has no get up an on like maybe the clutch is slipping. GB...stewbison

Vw pasat 1.9 tdi. Car has become difficult to get into gear but drives perfectly when in gear no great difficulty changing gear when car in motion. Does the 1999 Pasat operate on a clutch cable or...

The clutch is operated by hydraulic system. before you change gears, press the clutch pedal few times to increase the pressure in the hydraulic system. if it improves it then there is a leak in the hydraulic system. comen component to fail are Slave cylinder or masture cylinder. Good luck.....

1998 VW Passat clutch will not rise completely and having trouble getting transmission in gear.

if it is a hydraulic type, check fluid is ok, just pump clutch peddle and see if it will work if it does you may have a leak in the hydraulics somewhere , if it is a cable, the cable might be freyd inside the cover and you will need to replace the cable, or, the pressure plate inside the bell housing has gone u/s

Have a 99 lanos-clutch

As long as it does not slip (eng speeds up, but car doesnt) you MAY have a clutch hydraulic problem. Ck that first. If the clutch hydraulics are OK then the only thing that could do that it a pilot bearing bad (seizing) but I dont think that is your problem.

Will a 1.8 20v gearbox off a passat fit on a 1.8 20v turbo automatic to make it manual?

yes but you would need to alighn a manual linkage and parts of the loom would need to be replaced as well as ecu etc so its not worth the trouble and then the clutch pedal should have studs and fixing positions on the chassis already but the plate to allow the hydraulic clutch pipe through might need cutting. The flywheel will need replacing and the clutch plate etc.
