I have got the same problem on my Cooper S. It was happening around Christmas time, I did'nt think much about it at first until I went to my car on Boxing day to find the inside soaking wet from the rain where my windows had dropped again. I have called the AA out aswell as going to down to the Mini Garage.I got told by the AA that they think that water as been getting into the fuse box under the bonit. I hope this helps.
IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN POP THE DOOR PANEL WITH THE BACK OF YOUR FIST A COUPLE TIMES THAN TRY THE WINDOW AGAIN. IF IT WORKS HEAD TO THE DEALER FOR A NEW WINDOW REGULATOR
often times this problem ends up needing a front sunroof section of the conv top replaced. The cable that drives the hooks to unlatch is most likely broken and that is currently the only fix. EXPENSIVE. Sorry
