I have a 2000 Toyota Celica that is running terrible. The car putters, stalls out and doesn?t want to accelerate. The O2 sensors constantly go bad and all three have been replaced along with the catalyst converter. There is not chance that the vehicle received less then 87 octane of gasoline. What could be the problem?

-Sounds like dirty air flow sensor. Clean it to see if it will help or not before replace or check other area.

Good Luck

SOURCE: fuel pump for 2000 toyota celica

Yes, remove the rear seat cusion and then lift up the padding. Take the screws out of the cover and them you can access the top of the fuel tank and remove the pump and fuel level sending unit.
Very easy!

SOURCE: What is the recommended octane rating for my 2002 Toyota Celica?

You have a high compression ratio engine and it's recommended to use 91 octane. You can get away with the 89 octane, but the higher the better for the engine. Less chances of detonation (Engine Knock), Take note that it's best to keep faith full on servicing the Engine for Oil and filter changes. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.

SOURCE: P0420 and P0430

The AF sensors are uupstream and the O2 down stream. The car' s computer tests them and it is saying your cats are bad. If you have a scan tool you could look at the data and see what the sensors are seeing. The Af sensors are the ones that control the fuel ratio in the car while the O2's just watch. AF's would be the one to change but there is no garuatee that the codes won't come back.

Find out why the light is on. Maybe you broke or dislodged a connector when you replaced the sensor.

It can be fuel pressure issue or it's the problem with accelerator pedal or its clogged filters causing there.

Have a p0420 code on 2000 celica should i replace o2 sensors or cat

The catalytic convertermag-glass_10x10.gif has an oxygen sensor in front and behind it. When the vehicle is warm and running in closed loop mode, the upstream oxygen sensor waveform reading should fluctuate. The downstream O2 sensor reading should be fairly steady. Typically the P0420 code triggers the Check Engine Light if the readings of the two sensors are similar. This is indicative of (among other things) a converter that is not working as efficiently as it should be (according to specs). It is part of the vehicle emissions system.

2000 Celica GT-S. Engine 'bucking' anywhere from idle to wot

locate the mass air flow sensor. it's located inline with the air intake. it should be right after the air filter. disconnect the plug and see if the car runs better. also, when tapping on it lightly on the sensor with a screwdiver handle and the engine skips, could also indicate a bad sensor. these sensors will not always set the check engine light. suspecting the fuel system is also a possibility
