might be ecu fault are there any engine managment lights on dash is there defo fuel getting to engine can you here the pump running just incase its a duff pump if its totaly drained the fuel line it would take a bit to get the fuel to the engine any way
You should have your fuel pressure checked the problem is one of two things It is either your fuel pump or your fuel pressure regulator. It goes to high idle because it is starving for fuel.
The most likely problem would be the fuel pump they go like that one munite they pump and the next don't. You should check the electrical system first but if it is running good and all of a sudden it quits and if you have noticed problems on up hill excelartion with misfire codes P03 something. You may try changeing the fuel filter its located on the frame rail under the drivers door it may get you through the winter but its likely the pump if its never been changed
MOST LIKELY THE FUEL PUMP HAS FAILED, WHEN U TURN THE KEY TO RUN POSITION DO U HEAR A HUMMING NOISE FROM THE FUEL TANK? THIS NOISE WILL STOP IN ABOUT 5 SECONDS, U CAN HEAR IT BETTER BY TAKING OFF THE GAS CAP AND LISTENING THERE, IF U HEAR NOTHING THEN THE PUMP WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
