97 LicolnLincoln Continental P0131Continental P0131 and P1131 02 sensor codes. Car has a 4.6L V8 with 79K. Conti idles and runs great even with this error, but since I got these codes the gas mileage has dropped from mid 20’s to 10MPG. The car seems to run hot as the radiator fans kick on every couple minutes. I replaced bank 1 sensor 1 heated O2 sensor, new air filter, plugs, wires, PCV valve, oil, oil change, and cleaned MAF sensor. I also checked for vacuum leaks with nothing found. All fluids look great. Can someone help with this problem asproblem as my car is running way to rich wasting alot gas. Since it’s running hot(hot (never overheats) I) I think It could be a plugged CAT but not sure if the EGR or MAF sensors could cause this. I have limited $$$$$ like all and do not want to throw parts at the car. I already wasted money on the O2 sensor.

If Im not mistaken that code is due to a lean mixture which in turn can cause an engine to run hotter.Have you had the line pressure checked for the injectors. If you have pulled all the spark plugs are there some with colors different to others? Try switching sensors from one side of engine to other and see if code changes.Do front ones first then if no change swap rear ones. If change : bad Sensor. If not probably bad Cat. converter.

I replaced the MAF sensor and error has yet to come back after 175miles driven. I benched tested the other O2 sensor and all look good.

I use my OBD2 reader everytime I get out the car now and no codes thus far :) thanks for the input. I follow up on injectors if error returns

I have to jump start my 97 conti continental everytime i want to start it...The Check Charging System light comes on

After you jump it and get it running hold the throttle just a bit off idle and disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable. If it stays running you need a battery. If it dies you need an alternator. A simple, easy to do test that won't shock you. Good luck... and hope it's just a battery.

97 lincoln continental location of IN-CAR TEMPERATURE SENSOR

i think it is refering to the engine temp sensor ,not a sensor actually located in the inside of the vehicle,on this model the coolant temp is controlled by the cylinder head sensor ,see attached shematic hope this helps3f4e7974-fe11-4e87-aff830d78ba450db.png

Fri-My car wouldn't start. I got 8 codes: P0133, P0171, P0174, P0300, P0340, P01130, P01131, & P01132. It was determined that I needed to change my camshaft sensor. Unfortunately, after ordering it...

the codes are in the area of the heated oxygen sensor ( exhaust manifold before the cat converter--codes p 0131 ,p1131,p1132)
code p 3033 is random misfires, code p0340 is cam shaft position sensor fault
the engine will run with heated oxygen sensor problems (HO2S) but will not run with a cam shaft position sensor problem
check for wiring problems then replace that sensor , ensuring that you have the correct air gap to the rotor clearance I suspect it is a wiring problem as I am guessing in that finding the sensor you were moving the harness around to see where it was and to get to it
in that case you probably made a good connection for a period of time and then it failed again

1999 Continental will not start

I think the anti theft anewer is correct. I have an extra key for my '99 Lincoln continental that apparently doesnt have whatever "chip" it needs in it. If you try to use that key it cranks but won't start. I don't know if the key "chip" can fail or not. Maybe a quick conversation with a lock smith will shed some light on the problem.
