I have an Audi 1999 with an Audi Concert I with CD Changer. Car bought from Germany. I just replaced my Audi Concert with a used Audi Concert I from an Audi TT 2001-2002 from Canada.
I replaced it and now have three problems. The Fader says Off, my front left speakers does not work and the radio signals are a lot weaker than with my earlier model. Is there any simple solutions to these problems?? All wiring seems ok. I have connected all four rear sockets of the HeadUnit.
I have checked all wiring. I reinstalled my older radio (with a volume knob problem) and all speakers work and reception on radio is excellent. After installing the newer radio again, the menu FAD says "Fade Off" (this cannot be changed on the unit) (The fader works fine on the older model) All wiring in my car works to radio as far as I can check. The seller tells me everything worked on the newer radio before shipping... Could this be conserning radio configuration? http://www.ibiblio.org/tkan/audi/radios/... this site says there could be configured a contry ID and/or other different configuration i.e telephone inflicting on front left speakers. I was hoping someone could confirm my thoughts or tell me different, so that I don't spend my money on something that won't solve my problem.I was hoping someone could confirm my thoughts or tell me different, so that I don't spend my money on something that won't solve my problem.

If the audio on left speaker is much lower, or there is no sound on one channell with new one, and works well with different stereo system, like the old one, then it is not a wiring problem, it depends on the stereo. Check first balance settings on the new one, if the problem is not with settings, then there may be a blown capacitor on the amp board, and the stereo is faulty. Ensure also that the connector is well plugged into the stereo, and that is not a wiring problem on the connector.
Country ID has got nothing to do with speakers volume, and hands free phone directed to left speaker should not cause any problem either, at list, if there is a problem with this you should have the same with a different stereo. If you have a multimeter you can test the output out to speakers channels, if the new stereo does not return roughly same value on left and right, then amp or preamp is gone. In any case it sounds like the new stereo is defective, rather than being a wiring problem.
