Jan 8, 2009 - I hope its just a bolt on thing like B and D tranny. Any help would be great. .... The 2.3l four banger from the accord or cl will fit the v6 j30 engine. Is that rite? ... Do not buy a '97 to '99 3.0CL transmission and expect it to work in yourAccord. It will bolt up to the .... Honda 1998-1999 Accord - (3.0L V6) - B7XA
Unfortunately most transmission shops will say "needs a rebuild".
Sometimes you can get a low mileage transmission out of a wrecked car, but the install labor isn't cheap.
Guessing that you are talking about an automatic transmissio but gave you the location just incase you have a manual transmission. The 4 and 6 cylinder engines have different loctions for the automatic transmissions, I hope these pictures are detailed enough so you can tell where the location is at. I hope this helps you and good luck.
You must use AFT-Z1. The part number is CA66689. If you use Dexron III a
friction modifier additive must be used with it such as Lubeguard or
Kleenflo Platinum. This will help change the chemical nature of the Dex
III so that it acts like Z1. Dex III by itself will cause damage to the transmission
in a 1999 Honda
accord. Honda used
Dex III in transmissions built up to 1995, but after that they
redesigned the transmissions and switched to their own fluid so be careful.
Their better built than the auto trans in '97-'99. But
they are still vulnerable to failure. Replace fluid often.
It's fairly simple. At the bottom of the trans you will find a drain plug. Drain the fluid and refill with OEM 3.6 QTS. of OEM HONDA ATF.
put honda brand transmission fluid in the transmission fluid dipstick hole, if this is a 4cylinder, use 2.5 quarts to fill, if 6, use 3 quarts. if you are getting brown oilly substance in the radiator fluid reservoir, this usually means you have a blown head gasket, are you having overheating problems. try draining and filling your radiator with new fluid.
For the V-6 model, the dipstick is located down low on the transaxle, on the drivers side of the car, if it is low, usually 1 pint of of fluid is needed to raise from low notch to high notch. also if it appears to be dark or burnt, smells burnt, you should replace the tranaxle fluid. Good Luck!
