Hi sad to say this gearbox requires valve body repairs ,replacement of dextron 3 ATF fluid and filter.clutches and friction plates should be checked replaced if worn.Torque converter should be checked out.If gearbox has electronic functions a diagnostic report should be done before stripping.A conventional auto gearbox pre 2000 model could be fitted with a external modulator switch causing present fault ,over powering the above mentioned faults.
dont ask a dealer-bettr advice from privatemechs--ur car needs a datastream run-to show values whats goin on in the system--specific gear is used not a cheap code reader--the computer may hav issues-unplug it and clean the connectors-then see if it clears anything--ur library has vehicle repair books
sounds like gear linkage on top of gearbox under car. should be adjustable. simple job. if not, could be an internal gearbox problem. ie. dogs in gearbox worn. big job. or could simply be a clutch problem. difficult without driving car.
If you have C.V drive joints worn this maybe why there's a shutter when taking off,did you get them checked out recently, also along with worn CV drives joints a bush on the wish bone arms on the inside near the chassis can be wearing out,so the car wheels move forward a few inches before the chassis and car do.Also if its an auto, your transmission oil may need changing, its tick and clogging the sive, filter.Or thick in cold weather before heat up.
Hi there.
you dont say if the vehicle is auto or manual?? If manual, drop gearbox/tranny and check condition of clutch assembly.. it could be worn or the pressure plate could be defective causing it to bounce when taking off from a stand still, as for it getting better when car warms up, the clutch gets warm from friction and may expand just enough to even out the problem??
Good Luck.
clutch has gone ,yes its a auto but it does have a front clutch inside the gearbox and something could be wrong with this like either the operating piston or the linings have worn out
this is not good by any means. you will need to take this to a reputable transmission shop who knows quatros. there is no easy fix. let them do it. happy holidays
This is a manual transmission? If so the clutch probably needs to be replaced. When you say "VIOLENTLY" what is going on, what is the road speed, what are the RPMs at? The more specific information the better. And this problem ONLY occurs between gear changes, right? The other times, everything is normal?
tandard practice to change the oil on a clutch replacement. Was the replacemmiles it's covered, but it's not sounds like the gearbox oil need changing. You don't say how many miles it has done. Gear box oil is not usually changed in a clutch replacement. Did an Audi garage carry out the rlacement? It could be the cable needs adjusting to allow the clutch to have free movement
