No idle control sensor but it has both an IAC, idle air control valve and a T, throttle position sensor
both are located at the throttle body

Where is the fuel injection idle air control valve located


It's IAC - idle air control valve , not fuel injector idle air control valve. It's located on the throttle body -air inlet for the engine .

It likely has EFI (electronic fuel injection) and an idle air control valve that regulate idle speed. They can get gummed and fail to have a fast idle when cold, or get stuck the other way, and have a too fast idle all the or regularly take its time slowing down after you take your foot off the gas. An engine temp sensor can also cause a lingering high idle if it reports the engine as still being cold after warm up.

Why my 97' f-250 7.3 powerr stroke keeps dieing while idling


The power stroke engine has several things that will cause this problem #1 crank shaft sensor AKA cam shaft sensor on crank shaft located on passenger side of engine near crank shaft pulley # 2 IPC sensor Injection pressure control if has oil in sensor replace it & wiring pigtail .#3 high pressure oil pump not up to par. #4 injection pressure regulator solenoid they get sticky. with a good scanner that has FORD enhanced software you can check all of these without leaving the drivers seat and perform running tests on injectors and test the ficm module interface with the pcm. Its ideling to high getting too much gas how do you turn it down some


Hi.

Since the car is electronic injection and not carb engine you cannot regulate the idle manually. The idle fuel mixture to be injected is automatically determined by the ECU (the car main computer) depending on the inputs delivered from different parts. If the car is idling too high it means that there is a defective part.

Parts that must be tested are the following:

Idle air control valve and solenoid, also called IAC valve. The part is located on top of engine and determines amount of air to be injected when idle.
Vacuum system. The system has many different functions. Test the system for leaks that may result in lean mixture and other collateral problems.
O2 Sensors located in the exhaust system.
Air filter.
MAF sensor and IAT sensor located in the air intake.
Throttle position sensor.

Do also a diagnostic trouble code scanning. If there are codes stored they will help to identify the problem.

Engine floods when started,replaced oxegen sensor, fuel flow regulator, fuel filter would maf sensor or the idle arm control cause this flooding


Generally, the first thing to check with an engine that floods on warm start is the water temperature sensor that talks to the fuel injection system. The only way the fuel injection system knows how much fuel to supply right after startup is by checking the water temperature. If the sensor says the water is cold, the fuel injection system will supply a lot of fuel. If the reading is in the valid range (just inaccurate) the computer will not recognize that the sensor is bad.
There are other possible problems, but this is where I would start. Someone needs to measure the resistance across this sensor and compare it to a chart in the manual to see if the resistance is correct for the current temperature that the sensor is seeing.

Wont start when cold out


If your vehicle is fuel injected the problem you describe could be result of a few different things: 1) Check your Idle Air Control (IAC) sensor/motor. This sensor is located on your vehicles, throttle body. The purpose of this sensor is to control the car's idle under various operating conditions including ambiant temperature. In order for it to function correctly, the internal components must be clean (meaning, little or no carbon build up) and it must be undamaged. Sometimes the IAC can be cleaned; however, if this cleaning procedure is not properly done, the IAC can become damaged. This sensor is also sometimes called the "Cold Start" sensor. A new IAC will cost $50-$100. 2) Check you Coolant Temperature sensor. This senso is located on the top of your engine and is screwed into your intake manifold. When this fails your car will experience starting problems when cold outside. A new Coolant Temp sensor will cost about $100. Take a look at two three solutions first. My guess is your IAC needs to be cleaned or replaced. Good Luck!

I have changed everything: Spark plugs, Wires, Coil Packs, Ignition Control Module, Air Idle Control Valve, Throttle Position Sensor, Map Sensor, Cleaned out my PCV valve. My EGR Valve is in great shape so...


There are three components that will enrich the fuel mix: 1)engine coolant temperature sensor. If this is not working or the signal is interrupted by a wire breakage then the engine will run rich. The coolant sensor informs the ECU (high resistance) that the engine is cold at start up and so the ECU responds by increasing the fuel injection cycle to enrich the fuel air mix. Later on as the engine warms the resistance of the coolant sensor drops and the injection cycle is reduced by the ECU. If the sensor is faulty or has become disconnected (wire break or corrosion of the socket pins) the ECU assumes that the engine remains 'cold' and the engine runs permanently rich. 2) O2 sensor, operates completely independently of the EGR, if it is faulty and signals 'too much oxygen' then the ECU will significantly enrich the fuel mix to try and balance what it thinks is an excess of air. 3) Fuel pressure regulator. If the diaphragm has broken or there is a leak in the vacuum line this will result in higher than needed fuel pressure in the fuel rail at idle. The vacuum line acts against the spring pressure holding the valve closed. At idle, the inlet vacuum pulls back on the diaphragm reducing the fuel pressure required to open the valve. Low fuel pressure coupled with short duration injection times will mean a lean mix at idle. If the vacuum is compromised or the diaphragm damaged then the increase in rail pressure will make the fuel mix very rich to point of flooding the engine

I have a 1988 pontiac firebird with a 2.8 v6 fuel injected engine that displays code 32 and 34. We have changed the plugs, plug wires, rotor, and dist. cap and have also replaced the mass air flow (maf)...


Check throttle position sensor (TPS) is a sensor used to monitor the position of the throttle. The sensor is usually a potentiometer, and therefore provides a variable resistance dependent upon the position of the valve. The sensor signal is used by the engine control unit (ECU) as an input to its control system. The ignition timing and fuel injection timing (and potentially other parameters) are altered depending upon the position of the throttle, and also depending on the rate of change of that position. For example, in fuel injected engines, in order to avoid stalling, extra fuel may be injected if the throttle is opened rapidly (mimicking the accelerator pump of carburetor systems). the cost about 50-75 bucks.

Could be one of many things:

-Clogged fuel filter
-Leaking fuel line
-Bad fuel pump
-High or low oil level
-Overdue oil change (Will explain both these possible causes later)
-Bad high pressure oil pump, ICP sensor (injection control pressure sensor), ICR (injection control pressure regulator), or bad HEUI injectors, or oil lines
-Leak in the high pressure oil system (unlikely because you would have noticed this... This does not go undetected as the underside of your vehicle would be literally covered in oil and dripping in a very short period of time after the leak develops)
(Powerstroke engines use a HEUI fuel injection system, "Hydraulically actuated/electronically controlled unit injection", which relies on a high pressure hydraulic pump that uses engine crankcase oil and pumps it at high pressure (500 psi or so). This oil is sent to your fuel injectors to provide means for actuating them and pressurizing the fuel into the cylinders. High or low engine oil level, or old, diluted, additive depleted oil will cause this system to aerate the oil and result in poor fuel injection capabilities)

There might be other causes but this is the Powerstroke`s weak point... The HEUI system was first designed by Caterpillar, which makes a lot of excellent/bulletproof HEUI based engines, both in passenger vehicle and heavy trucks and equipment. The Powerstroke is an engine designed and made by International Truck and Engine, which cannot seem to make a HEUI engine, in any market, whether passenger, heavy truck, or equipment that does not suffer from fuel injection issues.
