Put in a new battery and car alarm won't stop sounding..1998 Toyota Avalon
Same here... I have a 1998 Toyota Avalon XL. My car battery died. Replaced my car battery, but found out that when you unplug and plug the car battery with this car it engages in security mode (I have factory car alarm). This disables the engine and wont let you turn the ignition aka start the car engine until the remote (keyless entry) "UNLOCK" is applied. My remote is also lost so I cannot disable the alarm.
The only thing I can think of to do is unplug the battery again to disable everything (car alarms are annoying...) and call the dealer to pick the car up and perform the diagnosis. Most likely they will offer you another keyless (ugh... expensive) and/or you could ask to disable the factory car alarm.
I know thats not much help but it seems to be the only option from what I researched currently....
same problem....HOWEVER, if you disconnect the annoying horns temporarally, this will allow you to go thru the process of bypassing the "starter kill" function of the alarm system by engaging the valet swith left of the steering column...THIS IS SPELLED OUT IN THE ORIGINAL SERVICE MANUAL AND MUST BE FOLLOWED TO A "T"....
ask best buy to disable car alarm for $50, won't incurred idiotic car alarm when battery is low, I installed their viper, includes auto starter, I'm happy, no more car disabling feature when battery is low

CAR ALARM ISSUES
It
can be any of the car doors not got properly locked or the door is locked but
the switch is not sensing the door locked. Open and close each door again
properly.
Or
else its problem with any of switch wiring getting in contact
with alarm wiring causing it to happen.
And
last thing alarm connections need to be inspected. It's getting short somewhere
in between.
