My 1995 mustang is throwing code PO240 saying camm sensor circuit something. i replaced the camm sensor, crank sensor, crank sensor connector and the ecm. no clue on what it could be. if you have any answers please let me know

I wouldn't expect a professional to replace all you mentioned,so did you just throw parts at it yourself and why?
Other than a MIL Lamp and one code,what are the issues?

    No I was told to change these parts by an ASE certified technician who I am friends with and I am also a state certified technician so I'm completely clueless on what i am doing. My main problems are that it idles rough and from 55-65 mph the motor vibrates. When my friend hooked it up to his scanner it said unable to detect cylinders from the same code.

    Between the two of you,both knowlegable as you stated,what tests were performed and how were they done. Are you following a factory diagnostic chart or tree or are you beyond that? Are you using an oscilloscope on these components, one at a time,before replacing. Too many items to fail around the same time!
    Have you checked the mechanical condition of the engine. Go back to basics. Did you do a cylinder leak down or consider cam wear or bearing issues.
    Are you sure the vibration is in the motor and not the drivetrain?

    no the only test done were from a high end mac scan tool. the motor only has 25000 miles on it so i wouldn't suspect any wear on the cam i could be wrong. i really haven't had much time to perform a cylinder compression test or any other diagnostic testing. it kind of stumped both of us. i figured it was just the cam sensor since thats what the code was for then again it was also saying unable to detect cylinders. By the way if this helps its also a 3.8 v6

    I will keep getting back to you, but what concerns me,is your ASE friend having issues with this. Codes don't tell you what to replace. They are sensors out range, for a reason. Codes only point you to an area, to start your diagnostic testing. You need to know the systems your working on, and have experience or reference material to follow. The ability to use logic is the key to solving your issues. Your not stumped,your need to know what does work and stick to basics.Work on the engine drivability first,then the higher speed vibration. Always learn every components function,then test it. Get a wiring diagram, if you need to back probe to test live data.

    thanks for the help. like i said i just havent had time to have my car worked on especially since its my only means of transport. my buddies shop has been busy lately so hes just going by what ive told him its doing and the code. I have 113 and 157 coad on a 1995 mustang how can i fix it a5.0

Hi, code 113 indicates an open circuit of the Intake air Temperature sensor.

Code 157, is the MAF sensor ( Mass Air Flow) before you replace the sensor make sure there are no air leaks between the MAF and the inlet valves.

I think probably one of your symptoms would be engine stalling when you depress the accelerator.

1990 ford mustang lx 5.0L Code 54 How do i fix this

Fault Code 54

Description: No fuel injector sync pickup signal during engine rotation
Power loss light: On
Limp-in mode: Logic module will guess at injector timing

Possible Causes:
Bad connection or wiring - Check the wiring and connections between the hall effect sensor (located underneath the distributer cap) and the logic module. Check the continuity of the two 3 conductor cables coming out of the sensor--these are prone to fatiguing and breaking inside the insulation where they exit the sensor if the cables are not properly tied down. You may be able to resolder them. Clean and regrease any corroded connectors with dielectric grease and repair any shorts.

Hall effect sensor failure - Check the two, flat 3 conductor cables coming out of the sensor. These often fatigue where they exit from the sensor. Upon replacing the sensor, make sure the cables are clipped or tied to the distributor cap shroud (or elsewhere) so they do not swing around.

Diagnostic Method
Trigger Parameters
- Engine cranking or running (signal coming from ignition reference sensor)
- No signal from the fuel injector sync pickup sensor

Results If Component Fails
Fault code 54 is stored. The engine will stall and will not start.

Code p1120 on a 2001 mustang base model

A P1120 means a throttle position (TP) sensor out of range. It could be TP circuit with frayed wires, corrosion on TP circuit connectors, or TP sensor loose pins. If you are not knowledgable in this area, I highly recommend that a knowledgable mechanic deal with this issue and may recommend a replacement.

Fix code po161

It basically means the PCM detected either an excessive current draw, or an open or short in the circuit powering the oxygen sensor's heater circuit. This is in reference to the Heated Oxygen Sensor (2) located rear of catalytic converter (Bank 2).

Bank 2 is the right side as you look at the egine from the front of the car.

Causes
A code P0161 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • HO2S heater power circuit open
  • HO2S heater ground circuit open
  • HO2S signal tracking (due to oil or moisture in the connector)
  • HO2S is damaged or has failed PCM has failed
Possible Solutions
  • Replace HO2 Sensor
  • Repair open or short in power circuit
  • Repair open or short in ground circuit
  • Repair damaged connector due to tracking

First I need to know for sure what you mean by "it won't crank at all" and "it never cranks". these terms are associated with a batery/starter/charging system concern. However if the engine is turning over but not starting just sputters and wheezes then there are three thing you need to know; does it have spark? Is it getting fuel and if so how much? and compression?, is it pulling in enough air (air filter)? cam tming?

Error code po340 for a 2002 hyundai elantra

Here is what I could find on your P0340 error code:
CausesA code P0340 could mean one or more of the following has happened:
  • a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
  • the camshaft position sensor may have failed
  • the PCM may have failed
  • there exists an open circuit
  • the crankshaft position sensor may have failed
Possible SolutionsWith a P0340 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:
  • Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
  • Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
  • Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
  • Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
  • Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
  • Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
  • Diagnose/replace the PCM as required
Sounds like since you have replaced both the camshaft and crank shaft sensors you need to look at the PCM.  Go down the line of possible solutions and don't replace the PCM unless nothing else works obviously.  I hope this helps but it looks like you are looking at getting a new PCM.  Good luck.  Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!
