Most likely causes:
Front wheel hubs need replaced (do both at one time)
Front rotors warped or worn (change rotors and pads both wheels together)
The noise from the brakes dragging or the wheel bearings humming gets picked up by the abs sensors in the hubs before you can hear them. A few hundred miles later, the problem will get worse enough to hear while driving. Wheel hub replacement best done on a lift with an enormous impact wrench.
Hi Cynthia, I'm glad to help! The torgue specs for the HUB BEARINGs on your Compass are 181 foot pounds. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Cynthia.
hesitation is probably down to gearbox fluid being low bearings can be a nightmare but in best case u just need to take the hub off and get the bearings pressed out. if u take the hub off yourself and take it to sum were to get pressed u looking at an hours labor and w/e the bearings cost if they come out easily
try getting wheel shims to change the offset of the tire to hub. should not be more then 1/4". your local tire shop should be able to get them. or your local parts store.
check under the filter.. maybe some stuff in there that's slowing down the motor and setting off the slow speed sender unit..or could be bad bearing or brush on motor. try to move it and listen for scraping or clicking noise - bad bearing...
stuff, as in you would never believe me if I told you.
this sounds like the bearing in the thermostatic cooling fan has worn possibly lift bonnet with car started keep hands out and look for a fan on the front of the radiator the are usually black plastic and are easily replaced and become noisy when worn hope this is helpful glenn....
