My volvo s70 1998 transmission oil coolant was leaking and fixed. I flash the transmissio oil and changed the oil. After this process the car does not move in all gears either forward nor reverse.

Check your Radiator coolant. If the coolant looks like chocolate milk, you have a cooling system leak into the transmission oil. Frequently misdiagnosed as engine oil mixing with coolant.

Normally if oil or transmission fluid mixes with coolant it will turn milky looking like a milkshake. Your leak must be pretty fresh. from your description that it is coming out of the coolant overflow I am thinking you have a radiator transmission cooler leaking into the cooling system.

You will need a new radiator and possibly all the coolant hoses if they have become soft from the transmission fluid.

In most cases if your getting transmission fluid in the radiator it is cause by a bad transmission cooler that is built into the radiator and the fix is to replace the radiator.

The repair will change in price from where the leak is coming from. If the pan is leaking or the rear seal your looking at $100.00 or less. If the front seal is leaking then around $550.00. The most common leak is the pan gasket. Also if the transmission fluid and filter have not been replaced in the last 30,000 miles and the pan is leaking then I suggest doing this also why the pan is off .

Thats possible but not as likly as the intake gasket being failed or next the head gaskets or cracked heads. Freezing without enough antifrezze is a cause for a leak down lower but it's possible if your right theirs crakes in othe parts too that you won't notice over the bigger leak or not full enough.to see the other leaks cyclinder linder leaks can almosr anlways be fixed with sop leak raditor additive and don't for get to change the oil as oil with coolant in it won't lube the engine parts well enough and it'll tear the whole engine up. If you've got it all the way down the orginal replacement gaskets are fine they just gave up over not having the coolant changed on a regular bacis. If you thing about it 78 was a long time ago and if you fix it now will it be running in 2047 for you to do it again? Sure O rings would be nice like road tractors use on the big cats, but this is a car, stock will be fine.

Has the coolant been changed and system flushed regularly? Sounds like just have old coolant.

the oil that you are seeing may be transmission fluid if its an automatic,the transmission lines go through the radiator for cooling.if the radiator fails in that section ,it could be leaking into the antifreze,or you have a blown head gasket

The Transmission oil passes through the radiator to keep it cool , If the pipes inside the radiator are damaged then water can enter into the trans lines causing the problem you are having.
Get the radiator checked and repaired/replaced...
Also get the Trans fluid changed as water can damage the trans internals.

That vehicle has the transmission cooler built into the radiator. You may not be leaking oil into the coolant, but transmission fluid, they both make the same mess. Replacing the radiator will probably fix your problem. Let me know if this helped.

Everyone always jumps to head gaskets. There are plenty of MINOR things that can be looked at first.
The Volvo 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 Inline 5 Cylinder dipstick tube is known to develop a large amount of condensationin winter months and stop and go driving. What you see on your dip stick is possibly just condensation. Take off your oil cap and look under the cap and inside the valve cover. Is there any thick foamy oatmeal like substance or noticeable amounts of water? If your oil was saturated with coolant, you would be able to see it up there too. Check your coolant for oil. Volvo coolant is typically brown to orange, however make sure there is no sludge. Start the car with the cap off and keep an eye out for alot of bubbles. A large amount of bubbles is a sign of a bad head gasket. A couple here and there is just air in your cooling system.
Coolant, Transmission fluid, and Oil have several places they can mix. If you have a turbocharged Volvo, the seals in the turbo can go bad and cause a mix of oil and coolant. Your transmission cooler is also in your radiator, and if it cracks your transmission fluid and coolant can mix. I believe turbo models have an oil cooler built into the radiator as well.
Overall if your car sounds fine, you dont see oatmeal, your not using coolant and oil in excessive amounts, dont have white smoke, and your turbo isnt whining you probably just have condensation in your dip stick. If you are overly concerned you can send a sample of your oil to a lab and have it tested for traces of coolant. Headgaskets rarely fail on Volvo's, even the old ones....I have seen many that have gone to replace them have not found a failed gasket and end up finding a bad transmission cooler or a bad turbo.

Run the engine til hot, check the transmission fluid... If it is dark/dirty red and smells bad, it needs to be changed. If it hasnt been changed in your knowledge in the last 40,000 miles, change it anyway. If that doesnt fix it and the fluid was very smelly even after u changed it and ran it for an hour on the road, the trans may have to be rebuilt. There are some treatments you can add and many do work well, so go to autozone or Napa and check em out. I would recommend high mileage additives anyway if the mileage is high as you'll get more life out of the transmissio...hope that helps...if so rate me..

the only correct info is at volvo web site ,pay the 3 days and read the info,/or give us more info on pipe leaking,if its a turbo car pass side?is oil lines that leak/drivers side trans cooler lines? what type,color fluid?
