If the engine is a 2.4L four cylinder engine, the crankshaft position sensor is located on the engine, passenger side, where the crankshaft comes out of the engine, on the lower side. You can see the sensor from the top side, with a 2 point wire connector on it. Just disconnect the wire, and use a deep socket to remove the sensor from the engine. It should come out without spilling any oil, and if you have a new sensor available, be sure to match the O-ring on the old sensor, then lubricate the O-ring with oil, and push the new sensor in, bolt it down, reconnect the wire, and the job is done.

What does a crankshaft sensor do? what does a camshaft sensor do?

get a HAYNES repair manual, tells you what all sensors do ! the crankshaft sensor sends info to the SBEC, reguarding engine crankshaft position. the camshaft sensor reads camshaft position, sends a coded signal to the SBEC, which uses this info to determine whether the fuel injectors and ignition coils are correctly synchronized !

I need to now ware area of engine is crankshaft sensor 525i 2001 bmw

Hi rafymoctezum,

The crankshaft sensor for your car is located near the starter. The best way to see it is to remove the driver's side microfilter housing and connected air tube. If you are looking at the starter, the crankshaft sensor is located to the right and is held in place with a 5mm allen bolt.

1997 Chrysler LHS 3.5 cars turning over, no spark, plenty of fuel...looking for the crankshaft position sensor...can you tell me the location?

Good Evening, I know you might be having a harder time finding that sensor. It is not in the place a usual car would be, instead it is on the passenger side in the front part of the transmission. If you look in your engine compartment and take off the breather (air intake) tube now look down right passed the motor right past the bell bolts bout 3 inches or so it is right there held in by a 10mm if i remember it right. Hope this helps, and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.
Thanks,
Joey
