Your float is stuck in the carb. Also your carb jets are probably stopped up. Try some carb. spray cleaner from any auto store. If your lucky the carb. cleaner will unstick all. Don't buy a new carb, this one can be cleaned and is probablo O.K. You can take the carb. to a mechanic shop, they usually have a tank of carb cleaning fluid and can clean all of the old gas out of the carb and if they have too take the carb. apart and unstick the float.

Fairly typical... the "float" gets soaked
the fix is to disassemble the carb and replace the float

My Holley 4160 carb floods like crazy at idle fuel pressure @6 psi virtually new carb and gone through by very experienced drag racer with Holley carbs

Was the carb sitting for years before you bought it? Probably the needle shut off valve is stuck . Where the fuel line goes into the carb, try firmly tapping (wack) the carb housing with a screw driver handle. If it still floods, its take apart time. Was the "experienced drag racer" a driver, or mechanic.? Apparently he don't know much about carburetors.

83 honda accord it acts like it is out of gas but there is plenty. It turns over good but just wont start

Do you know if there is gas in the carb ?
1982 and 1983 Honda Accord models use an electric pump.
If there is no fuel in the carb you'll need to find out if the pump is working.
Also make sure it is getting spark to the plugs.

My jag smells like as if it was flooding when i try to start it, when it does start it idles fine but as soon as I rev it up it bogs out, please help me as i really can`t afford to take it to a mechanic,...

Well first off what year and kind of Jag is it?That will make a difference on what might be the problem. If it is a carbureted model, it sounds like you either have a simple fuel line leak going to the carb so when your car sits fuel drips out and gives you the gas smell and then sucks air when you rev it up.If there is no line leak, sounds like your float in the carb is sticking open and simply flooding the carbs with gas, hence the smell and the bogging out at rpm.You would need a carb rebuild kit with float to fix that problem. That way you have gaskets and floats to fix your carb.

1982 f-100 with a 1978 302 cid--won't start--continues to flood with gas noted to bottom carburetor seal and onto intake. no obvious problem with the carb but has not been rebuilt. have inspected all...

it sounds as if you have blocked jets cause what you have said it seam that when you had the tank repired you had some dirt get into the fuel system whick blocked the jets you have to get the carb cleaned and replace the jets and then have the carb set so the emitions will be to law specks

I have an 1982 f 250 4.9 and go through carburaters a lot. New ones last may be a year then start burnning way to much gas. The carb has an idle adjustment and a curb idle adjustment no air gas mixture...

1982 ?? their wouldnt be any adjustment as they are fixed jet carbs ,you could try fitting new jets but whats causing them to eat away in the first place i dont know unless its the fuel additive that you have to add to the unleaded fuel
