  • imaflyboy Jul 01, 2008

Battery holds charge applied with charger and vehicle runs as long as it isn't turned off. Where is the voltage regulator and could this be keeping the battery from charging from the alternator?

Hello everyone! First of all the alternator is located on the lower left side of the engine looking at it from the front of the car!
Now to get to it you'll have to remove the big black tubing in front of the engine starting at the top front of the intake along with some smaller vaccuum tubing. Look it over to see where the lines run so you can get them back in the right positions again. There are I believe 2 electrical plug ins on this too. There are also 5 10mm nuts holding this into place and 2 tubing clamps on the top. When you get everything loose don't yank or force it out ,but you will have to wriggle it out! Once this is all out of the way you can see the front of the Alternator. It's a tight spot to work in but just have a little patience and you will persevere! Good luck and happy wrenching!!

The alternator is attached to the engine. It will have a wire attached that goes to the battery.

I have an 98 Cadillac Catera: Where is the transmission module located on this?

Any new car dealer or transmission shop should tell you, however,
there are lots of employees who are not the brightest bulb in the candelabra. Often, modules are under the seats, floorboards, or kick panels under the dash.
God bless your efforts.

My radio, trunk and fuel door all work sometimes. Where is the Multifunction relay? I believe the part# 90494163 It is a 2000 Catera Cadillac. Thanks

K134 Multifunction relay is under the dash on the driver side. When sitting in driver seat, above your left ankle, it is located behind a cardboard panel. Replacing cures many problems with the Bose radio, sunroof, gas and trunk releases, fog lights.

Radio, trunk and gas door do not work

Check all fuses both inside the car and under the hood. Consult the owners manual for the location of the fuse boxes.

Otherwise, have a mechanic troubleshoot the cars electrical system.

Radio only goes on after driving for an hour or more

it could be a relay. the trunk switch is controlled by a relay. there are some relays in the fuse box and there are some in the larger fuse panel that is located under the hood.
