Please oh please can any mechanic or someone who has worked on a cadillac catera tell me where is the alternaotr located on the car. is it under the engine?
Hello everyone! First of all the alternator is located on the lower left side of the engine looking at it from the front of the car!
Now to get to it you'll have to remove the big black tubing in front of the engine starting at the top front of the intake along with some smaller vaccuum tubing. Look it over to see where the lines run so you can get them back in the right positions again. There are I believe 2 electrical plug ins on this too. There are also 5 10mm nuts holding this into place and 2 tubing clamps on the top. When you get everything loose don't yank or force it out ,but you will have to wriggle it out! Once this is all out of the way you can see the front of the Alternator. It's a tight spot to work in but just have a little patience and you will persevere! Good luck and happy wrenching!!
Under the engine on the passenger side on the front of motor.
The
alternator is attached to the engine. It will have a wire attached that goes
to the battery.

How do I remove and replace the alternator on my 1999 Cadilac Catera
Battery holds charge applied with charger and vehicle runs as long as it isn't turned off. Where is the voltage regulator and could this be keeping the battery from charging from the alternator?
