DaimlerChrysler has announced that it is recalling 2005 and 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren models due to a problem with the electrical system. The $450,000, 617-hp car with a top speed of 208 mph could catch fire due to the high temperatures generated by the electrical system and the resulting damage inflicted upon the vehicle's alternator. So far, no fire or accidents have been reported. The recall affects 433 vehicles in the United States, and will involve replacing the alternator and installing a modified control unti. Vehicles elsewhere in the world are being dealt with as well.

If its to be recalled then mercedes will contact you or you could ringvthe mercedes dealer and ask them if its a recall it free of charge as they pay for it but with it being a 2007 car not sure if yhey would honour this as the xars 10 year old but i would still ring to fibd out ( shy lads get nothing ) lol

2002 mercedes warning light ESP came on . then lost gears forward res and could not get out of park ,, turned car off restarted and able to move car can some tell what to do .

The ESP and BAS warning lights may illuminate due to a failed brake light switch. Replacement of the failed switch should correct this concern. A recall on certain 2000-2002 models have been recalled for a related issue

there are no safety recalls for this vehicle as of today if you notice brake fluid leaking that is most likely why your abs light came on, I would have it serviced

I need help with a down payment on a car. My credit is not good and due to that I need a down payment of at least 2500.00.

So you need money for a car...I see. How about saving some? Or buying a cheaper car? Oh wait, I got it!!! There's this thing called work. You find a job and they pay you to WORK. It's not as easy as begging but you'll take pride in your self for doing this.... This site is for TECHNICAL SUPPORT, INSTRUCTIONS, and REPAIRS. Not for hand outs.

Removal of ignition switch on slr mclaren

There are two switches. The key lock cylinder and actual switch 180 degrees to the left of that, on the left side of the steering column. You need a special tool to remove the switch.

First, remove the steering column cover with 3 bolts at the bottom, facing the floor. Remove tilt lever if equipped. Now insert the key, turn to on position. From the instrument cluster side, insert a small screw driver or tiny punch to push in the retainer, like a door knob bolt in a house, and pull the cylinder out.

Unplug only one electrical connector for the cylinder, or two for the switch. Do not touch yellow wires or any airbag components, though they might have inflated, still be careful, you didn't say, and they keep a minimal amount of power even with a smashed battery.
