I have a 2004 Chevy Impala and have a few issues. 1) While going down road, 'Door Ajar' light comes on, then it sounds like someone is hitting the door locks. Then the 'Door Ajar' light goes out and don't hear any more sounds. 2) Start backing up into driveway and the interior lights come on. 3) Shut car off, lock and shut doors. Interior lights dim and go off... Then the interior lights come back on. Five minutes later checked on vehicle and the lights are out. What is causing these problems?

Check that the door ajar lamp lights with either door or hatch open and goes out when all closed.

your pin switch on the door frame ,may have dirt or rust held on with small screw remove the screw and lift out the pin switch try clean it first.

Check door switch connection and operation.
If the door switch is part of the door lock mechanism, within the door itself, then remove door panel, disconnect the mechanism's electrical connector and re-check that the interior light no longer comes on with that door ajar. If it doesn't, then you likely have a faulty door lock mechanism, which you will have to replace.
This faulty switch will also have the affect on your random central locking function.


This is not likely connected to the engine performance issue.

this is usually an issue with the door switch, check the door for correct adjustment, if ok test out the door switch

Sounds like a bad door switch, sometimes you can spray brake or electrical cleaners in the door switch (part of the door latch) and the switch will start working again otherwise the switch will have to be replaced

You need to replace the door jamb switch. Little button on the door jamb that is pressed in when doors are shut.

switch is probably bad.It is located at the door latch inside the door cavity.

I sprayed WD40 in the handle opening and moved it up and down a few times and sprayed some in the latch and it went away.

sounds like you have a wheel hub out causing the lights to come on. odds are it would be the front left. it's not sensing right causing the traction control to be turned on. or it could be a loose wire for that hub. gm cars has had a problem with these two issues.
