1995 Jeep Grand cherokee limited V8, Won't start. engine cranks just fine, good battery. 12+volts to the coil. Doesn't seem to have any pressure in fuel rail after cranking. Picked up jeep yesterday AM and drove it from Chicago to Ohio without any problems. Started cleaning engine with a rag ( no fluids or water). Tried and it wouldn't start. I've looked all over the engine to see if I knocked loose a connection somewhere. I couldn't find anything disconnected. Auto shut down relay was checked and is ok. Anti Theft system is screwy. Need to disconnect battery and when I re-connect bat. headlights flash. Use Key in drivers door to re-set alarm but it still doesn't start

Hi, this could be you have not reset the ALARM, when you toke the battery off. please undo the NAGATIVE lead OFF the BATTERY and hold the battery lead ON (for 2 seconds) then take battery lead OFF. you will hear the ALARM make a funny noise (this resets the alarm), put the battery lead ON again and the alarm should SOUND then tighten the NEGATIVE LEAD TO THE BATTERY. if not you need to get the ALARM TO SOUND, need to undo battery NEGATIVE and do the same as above. there is a knack to it. then this will work. THE SYSTEM IS LIKE THIS FOR SECURITY RESONS. gerry

My 1995 grand cherokee takes a lot to start. turns over fine, but won't fire. checked fuel rail, no pressure. after trying 15 times or so, it will start and run just fine. starts right back up unl

Your Jeep has what's known as the delayed start, no check engine light problem. The Jeep will not start until the check engine light comes on, on the dashboard. Next time it cranks but will not start, look at the dashboard to see if the check engine light is illuminated. If it's not lit up, then your Jeep does have that problem and your Jeep ecu is in need of repair or replacement. There are components inside the ecu that are going bad and will continue to get worse, eventually leading to a permanent no start condition. There are ecu repair services and replacement ecus on ebay.

My 1995 jeep grand cherokee Laredo won't start, or

You might not believe this, but check your battery. Some of these vehicles have cut-outs when the battery level goes below a preset amount.
I work on Ford brands and on them, a low battery level will even disconnect the Alternator circuit and mess with the starter. Some even act up when the battery slightly dips below 12 volts.

Your antitheft can make your starter cut out. And If you think about it, all of the measurements to make the engine run are based on feedback of voltage and amperage. This is how the engine management system adjusts. If your prime source of power is low, then all of the following electrical readings will be low. Some may be too low to work.

Your fuelpump will hold pressure in a closed system for hours. The fuel pressure regulator will command the fuelpump to stop working if the fuel pressure is at maximum. Without responses from the other components and after satisfactory pressure, the fuelpump will turn off.

We have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, ran good then quit, has 8 volts to the coil, the coil isn't firing.Has new parts inside the distributor, new coil,a computer off another Jeep Grand Cherokee, has the same...

If there is only 8 volts to the coil, that is your problem. There should be battery voltage (12.2) volts to the coil with the ignition switch turned on. Connect a voltmeter between the DARK GREEN/BLACK wire at the ignition coil and the POSITIVE battery post. Turn the key on. If the volt meter reads more than 0.3 volts then you have a voltage-drop (high resistance) problem on your coil B+ circuit. The coil is powered by the Auto Shutdown (ASD) relay - this is the MOST LIKELY source of high resistance in this circuit.

Engine code 95 jeep grand cherokee lerado

12 is a battery disconnect within the last 50 start cycles and 55 means the end of the diagnostic cycle.  Basically the computer found nothing wrong. The 12 code may seem incorrect if you haven't disconnected the battery recently, but from my experience the 12 code shows up almost all the time regardless.

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Orvis 5.2L V8 will crank but not start.

Fuel delivery is influenced by engine temperature sensor. (sometimes a seperate unit from gauge sensor). Since you did not mention any performance problems after starting or on hot re-starts, that's where I'd look first!
