It sounds like the anti theft lock is engaged. There should be 2 white wires hooked to the ignition. they are very easy to break in the halo surrounding the key. They measure resistance in the key itself. there should also be a plastic piece just behind the lock cylinder with a silver rod coming out of the bottom of it. That is the anti theft. If the wires are broke in the halo, it will not allow the rod to punch up and the key to turn. Take a ohm meter and test both wires. if with the key in you get no resistance measured, your halo is broken. You have to replace the lock cylinder and key. Then take it to the dealer to have the computer reset to recognize the new resistance setting.

The white wires are intact, target is to bypass the anti-theft all together. I was going to remove the cylinder and blank it out, so it will turn, on any key (of course in our case the original w/chip key).
Is there a way to disarm or remove that function all together?
I have pulled out the halo from its original place and also pulled out the ignition switch. The car starts and runs and drives fine. I would like to put back and turn the key like I used to w/o all the security stuff with the key cylinder.
