As with most cars today your car is fitted with a charcoal filled canister to trap fuel vapour emissions before they are released to the environment. In order to burn this temporarily stored vapour the engine computer opens a purge valve that is connected by a vacuum tube to the inlet manifold of the engine. The valve is only opened when the engine has warmed up. With the valve open outside air is drawn into and through the charcoal canister to carry the fuel rich vapours down the vacuum tube into the engine to be burnt. In your car the purge valve is being left open permanently and this means your car is struggling with all the extra air entering the engine. Solution: find the tube connected between the inlet manifold and the charcoal canister and disconnect it and block both open ends temporarily (duct tape) so that nothing can pass through it . This is only a temporary solution until you can replace or repair the faulty purge valve. When repaired open the vacuum tube connection again.

2009 Toyota Corolla cranks no start from looking at the EFI fuse number one and number two they look good but when I take my light to it they don't light up neither does the circuit

no Engine told and is and engine questions (dead)14+ engines world wide. USA 1.8L or 2.4L (both fine chain cams)
asking how to test a fuse, we test them all, if engine cranks fast and will not start the engine and run and stay running.
best fuse test is , with a voltmeter,
both sides read 12vdc, key on.
Not only must the EFI work but all computers in the car must work.
and the communications bus works too. so all fuses are checked.
not just say 2 for the EFI PCM. see why"?
It's like a card house in some respects. (check all)

learn that some fuses are hot all the time (12vdc)
others only HOT key on. so test them all key on, lacking the service manual that tells these facts.
if fuses are all good
the cause is bad engine, bad, spark ,bad fuel. 1,2,3.
check spark, or do a spark tune up. (spark plugs old?)
check all spark plugs for spark not just 1, all dead is big clue.

check for fueling is last.

watch scotty, (weak on bad engine but tests are fast)
"my car cranks but does not start" << clear as day what's up.

one of his first posts.

also, , learn to scan any car that fails as it fails.
example:
connect tool to obd2 port
scan PCM,(obd2 port)
crank for 5 seconds.
release the key , no off.
scan again, even wait a few minutes for DTC to pop.
some call DTC codes but DTC means diagnostic trouble codes.
or errors.
sorry if your car is not in USA and is a diesel and my post is no good
sorry; but NO ENGINE (of 14) OR COUNTRY TOLD.
no VIN TOLD.

Check these two fuses. Fuse number 31 in fuse box location 4, if cigarette lighter, radio and clock. Else fuse number 5 in fuse box location 2, if only radio and clock and not cigarette lighter.

Stalls when driving

I am having the same issue with my sister 2001 corolla. I pinpoint it down to the EFI and/or Engine Main relay. After you drive it for 30 minutes it just shuts off. Try disconnecting the EFI fuse (15 A) for 30 seconds. This will reset the ECU which is going into Limp mode due to relay malfunction. Let me know if it works, i am going to change the relays on my sister's car tomorrow and recheck.

O2 sensor on a 2002 Toyota corolla?

Driving the car will not clear this trouble code, it has been stored in the ECU. You must remove the EFI fuse from the engine bay relay block for at least 60 sec, or disconnect the battery for that time.

I have replaced the distributor, power steering belt, spark plugs and put in a new transmission filter and fluid on my 1995 Corolla station wagon. I cannot get the check engine light to go off and stay...

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS CONTROLED BY THE COMPUTER FROM INPUT SENSOR FOR THE EMISSION SYSTEM , IT IS ASSUMED THAT IF A CARS EMISSION SYSYEM IS FAILING THERE IS A POTENTIAL MALFUNCTION IN THE ENGINE. ONLY A DIAGNOSTIC CAN TELL U WHICH SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING.
