Normally they fix these, during Timing belt Replacement. For an Audi A6 3.0, the replacement interval guide is every 80000miles or 8 years. Repair time, remove and install is 5hours.
The cost of replacing a belt as part of a routine service could be as little as 5 to 10% of the repair cost following a belt failure.
So if you decide to keep your car, keep in mind to spend at least $1000 for maintenance. Mine was a 2000 Audi A6 T2.7. With two, turbochargers under both sides of the engine. I sold it with 80000miles, without changing the belt. Hope this may help.

SOURCE: my 1996 audi A6 has an oil sending unit problem......
The oil pressure sender unit is located on the oil filter housing. These do tend to leak at times. The warning light for this switch is a red oil can and a buzzer. Replace the switch. If warning light still comes on, have the oil pressure checked. The oil level sender warning light is an orange oil can with oil level under it. This sender is fitted on the bottom of the oil sump and can leak past the seal. If warning light comes on, check oil level. If ok, check for damage to wiring under vehicle. Senders do some times become faulty.
