The car will run really badly. It will be difficult to start. The image below lists more signs.
Try this.
**Keep away from any moving parts of the engine!**
Start the car. Using a very long screwdriver, touch the point to the first fuel injector. Put your ear against the handle of the screwdriver and listen. If the injector is working you will hear a steady fast ticking noise like a watch. If it is not a regular sound that injector need checking. Do this for all the injectors.
Have a look at the website I have included for more information.
THE SWITCH EITHER BEHIND ONE OF THE KICK PANELS INTHE FRONT OF CAR OR INTHE SIDE PANELS INTHE REAR NORMANLLY IT WILL HAVE A PUSH BOTTON ON TOP TO RESET IT
i bet it does shift in to gear, if you start engine in 1st or REV.gear.right.
if you start engine in gear, with clutch depressed, and the car moves
that means clutch failure.
it can be a bad clutch linkage, easy fix.
there are 2 systems. (3 on relics) cable and a hydraulic acuator.
i can never tell what others can do, some cant tie shoe laces others fly to moon..
im laces.
im too lazy no wto look up the linkage on yours.
why not just look.
see clutch master cylinder above pedal on fire wall?
that is hyd. if missing and is cable ? bingo cable system.
cable play never set ever? do so now, called free play.
if cable end moves 1inch its good.
if the slave cylinder dont move it or or the MC is bad. replace both,
both are easy fixed, ask.
.
You should only have to press the clutch in a couple inches to shift only press it in all the way when at a stop. I would guess the dimmer for the dash lights. And possibly a bad connection on the blinker.
It's your exhaust mounts or broken exhaust bolts. It does it in drive st idle n under load because the motor is sitting in rubber mounts made to dampen vibration. Therefore the motor tilts to the left in reverse pulling the exhaust away from your under carraige, and to the right in drive causing the loose exhaust to vibrate against something. Check your heat shields also. They fall apart n do the same noise. Piece of cake.
I want to say it sounds like your throw out bearing or pilot bearing when your going down the road when it makes the sound push in the clutch and when it go,s away keep the clutch pushed in and give it some gas and see if it still makes the sound if it dont then it is the throw out bearing or pilot bearing that is all part of a clutch kit sometimes the throw out bearing or pilot bearing gos out befor the clutch doe,s let me know what happens have a good day hope that helps
Difficult to know what sounds like speeding: engine, road noise, what ?
If the oil change were to help, you have bad, bad engine problems. I suspect you may have a wheel bearing that may have failed. This makes a lot of road noise, alters with vehicle speed and NOT engine speed (drop to idle, noise the same).
There is a possibility of transmission slipping. this lets your engine speed up, but not actually move the car.
There is a third common issue and that is FAN. When your fan clutch fails, is locks up a normally free spinning (somewhat) fan, as if the vehicle needed max cooling... This noise follows engine speed, the vehicle seems to go just fine, but huge noise.... This sometimes is called Jeep fan noise, as many of those used to have direct drive fans.... If this is your case, the fan clutch gets replaced, not huge $, but more than it should be.
