Tone ring on axles or sensors at tone ring will cause this. Very hard to troubleshoot unless this is a visual clue like a broken ring or broken wire/connector. The tone ring is at the end of the CV boot on the front wheels. Not sure where they are on the back wheels for your car--maybe behibd the rotor? More questions, please ask.

I have a 2008 Saturn outlook with 2w drive. I recently drove in wet weather a my Stabil Trak and traction control indicators

When the Stabilitrak and Traction Control indicators come on and stay illuminated in your 2008 Saturn Outlook, it typically indicates a problem with the vehicle's stability control system. This system helps maintain control and stability during adverse driving conditions, such as wet or slippery roads. There are several potential causes for these warning lights, and it's essential to address the issue promptly to ensure your vehicle's safety and performance. Here are some common reasons for the warning lights to stay on:
  1. Wheel Speed Sensor Issues: The Stabilitrak and Traction Control systems rely on information from wheel speed sensors to determine if a wheel is slipping or losing traction. If one of these sensors is malfunctioning or dirty, it can trigger the warning lights.
  2. Faulty ABS Module: The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module is closely related to the stability control system. If there is a problem with the ABS module, it can affect the functionality of Stabilitrak and Traction Control.
  3. Damaged Wiring: Damage to the wiring that connects the wheel speed sensors to the control module can disrupt the communication and trigger the warning lights.
  4. Malfunctioning Control Module: The control module responsible for the stability control system can develop faults or errors over time.
  5. Brake System Issues: Problems with the vehicle's braking system, including worn brake pads, can sometimes lead to issues with the Stabilitrak system.
  6. Faulty Steering Angle Sensor: The steering angle sensor is part of the stability control system. A malfunction in this sensor can lead to warning lights.
  7. Low Fluid Levels: Low brake fluid levels can trigger the warning lights, as the stability control system may interpret it as a potential issue with the braking system.
To diagnose and address the problem, you should take your Saturn Outlook to a qualified mechanic or a dealership. They can perform a diagnostic scan using specialized equipment to pinpoint the exact issue that is causing the warning lights to stay on. Once the problem is identified, they can recommend the necessary repairs or replacements.
It's important not to ignore these warning lights, as the stability control system is designed to enhance vehicle safety and performance, particularly in adverse driving conditions. Addressing the issue promptly will help ensure the continued safe operation of your vehicle.

How to turn off traction control for a 2002 Buick Century

The Enhanced
Traction System
warning light may
come on for the
following reasons:

If you turn the system off by shifting to SECOND (2)
or FIRST (1), the warning light will come on and stay
on. To turn the system back on, shift to THIRD (3) or
AUTOMATIC OVERDRIVE (). See “Enhanced
Traction System” in the Index.

If the Enhanced Traction System warning light
comes on and stays on for an extended period of
time when the system is turned on, your vehicle
needs service. Adjust your driving accordingly.

The warning light will come on when you set your
parking brake with the engine running, and it will
stay on if your parking brake doesn’t release fully.
If the transaxle shift lever is in any position other
than FIRST (1) or SECOND (2) and the warning
light stays on after your parking brake is fully
released, it means there’s a problem with the system.

If the traction control system is affected by an
engine-related problem, the system will turn off
and the warning light will come on.

What does it mean when my anti-lock brake light comes on and the low traction light comes on and shuts off?

You need to have the ABS system scanned. You probably have a bad wheel speed sensor. most likely located in one of the hub bearings meaning; you may have to replace a hub wheel bearing assy with the faulty sensor. Traction control uses the same speed sensors as ABS. when the warning lights are on the system is not working.

Meaning of warning lights

Manufacturers spend billions of dollars a year refining their cars' on-board diagnostics systems. However, all of the sophisticated diagnostics in the world will do little good if you don't know what the warning lights mean.
Purpose
Modern automobiles have dozens of sensors to monitor engine, braking and chassis performance. Any deviation from the car's established limits will trigger a dashboard warning light.

Check Engine Light
Check engine lights can indicate failure of the emissions system, fuel injection system, faulty sensor feedback, overheating or lack of voltage, transmission failure, and engine knock ignition system failure.

Brake Lights
Almost all cars have two separate lights for the braking system: a red "ABS" (anti-lock braking system) light and "Brake Warning" light. The former indicates failure of the electronic anti-lock system, the latter a loss of fluid pressure in the brake system itself.

Dynamic Warnings
Many modern cars have traction or stability control systems that prevent and notify the driver of tire slippage. These lights can come in the form of amber "SLIP," "TC," or "TRACTION" lights (for spinning tires), or "ESC" (electronic stability control) lights for a sliding vehicle.

Safety Lights
Most cars have a diagrammatic warning that indicates a door that isn't all the way closed, a seat-belt warning light, and an "airbag disabled/enabled" light. Any or all of these will be red or amber.

Why does my traction off light come on?

You either have a problem with your engine control system, the traction control system, or you are not in the correct gear. See the explaination below. This is from the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier Owner's Manual.

TRAC-OFF LIGHT

... If you turn the system off by moving the shift lever

to FIRST (1) or SECOND (2), the warning light will

come on and stay on. To turn the system back on,

move the shift lever back to a position other than

FIRST (1) or SECOND (2). The warning light

should go off. (See "Enhanced Traction System"

in the Index for more information.)

The warning light will come on when you set your

parking brake with the engine running, and it will

stay on if your parking brake doesn't release fully.

If the transaxle shift lever is in any position other

than FIRST (1) or SECOND (2) and the warning

light stays on after your parking brake is fully

released, it means there's a problem with the system.

If the traction control system is affected by an

engine-related problem, the system will turn off

and the warning light will come on.

If the Enhanced Traction System warning light comes

on and stays on for an extended period of time when the

transaxle shift lever is in any position other than FIRST
(1) or SECOND (2) your vehicle needs service.

What does it mean when 1999 Ford Explorer ABS warning light on dashboard comes on?

That means that the EBTCM has detected a problem within the system. The message indicates that a malfunction exists in the stability enhancement feature.

EBTCM (Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module) is an electronic control module that controls and operates the Anti-Lock brake system, Traction Control System and Stability system. If this module detects a problem, it "asks" the cluster to inform you by displaying a warning message.

You should have your car scanned for trouble codes with a scan tool, the Tech2 scan tool is preferred because other scan tools may not communicate with the EBTCM modules.

Hope helps (remember to rate this answer).

ABS light came on and also the Advanctrac light....says check ADVtrac.

There are many sensors on your anti-lock brake system, as well as on your traction control system. Sometimes one giving a signal will set off the other one. Unless you are can physically feel any symptoms, then a computer test is really the only way to tell what the problem is. Many auto part stores offer to check the computer, and many of those will do it for free. One you know what the computer says is wrong, you can have the problem repaired. You can still drive your vehicle, but be aware that it is highly possible that your anti-lock function as well as the traction control system may not work. The anti-lock keeps your wheels from locking up if you slam on the brakes. The traction control diverts power and/or uses the anti-lock brake system to reduce braking on a certain wheel. I would imagine that there is a problem with the anti lock brake system since it is used in the traction control system. Hope it turns out to be small!

Problem with my cruise control and ABS light on 03 Explorer

Anti-Lock Control —Vehicles Built After 03/2002 The 3-channel anti-lock brake system consists of the following components:
  • front wheel speed sensors
  • front wheel speed sensor rings
  • hydraulic control unit (HCU)
  • Anti-lock brake control module (ECU)
  • rear wheel speed sensor
  • rear wheel speed sensor rings
  • yellow anti-lock brake warning indicator
The 4-channel anti-lock brake system with traction control and stability assist system consists of the following components:
  • active brake booster with integral solenoid
  • brake booster release switch
  • front wheel speed sensors
  • front wheel speed sensor rings
  • hydraulic control unit (HCU)
  • stability assist module (ECU)
  • stability assist event indicator
  • lateral accelerometer
  • longitudinal accelerometer (4x4)
  • rear wheel speed sensors
  • rear wheel speed sensor rings
  • steering wheel position sensor
  • yaw rate sensor
  • yellow anti-lock brake warning indicator
  • brake pressure transducer
  • traction control switch
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I suspect the abs issue is causing the speed control not to work if it happened at the same time the cruise control stopped working. When the yellow ABS light comes on, it means the ABS is dactivated. You may have a faulty accelerometer which senses acceleration and yaw (side to side lean). I have not seen a bad one but you said it is sensitive to acceleration.
I would unplug it and see what happens. The connector should have a small tab to depress so you can pull the connector out.
Here is where it is:

Accelerometer Removal and Installation
  1. NOTE: The accelerometer is located under the center, rear passenger seat carpet. (I think you have to remove seat for access).
Cut the carpeting along the perforations.
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  1. Remove the nuts and remove the accelerometer.

Have dealer hook up tester and pull fault codes if you can't find an easy solution.
Some background info
  • A malfunction in the anti-lock brake system will cause the anti-lock brake control module to shut off or inhibit the system. However, normal power-assisted braking remains.
  • Malfunctions are indicated by the yellow ABS warning indicator in the instrument cluster.
  • The anti-lock brake system is self-monitoring. When the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position, the anti-lock brake control module will carry out a preliminary self-check on the anti-lock electrical system indicated by a three-second illumination of the yellow ABS warning indicator in the instrument cluster.
  • During vehicle operation, including normal and anti-lock braking, the anti-lock brake control module monitors all electrical anti-lock functions and some hydraulic operations.
  • Each time the vehicle is driven, as soon as vehicle speed reaches approximately 20 km/h (12mph), the anti-lock brake control module turns on the pump motor for approximately one-half second. At this time, a mechanical noise may be heard. This is a normal function of the self-check by the anti-lock brake control module.
  • Pedal pulsation coupled with noise while braking on loose gravel, bumps, wet or snowy roads is normal and indicates correct functioning of the anti-lock brake system.
  • Warning Lamp Indicator
The anti-lock brake system (ABS) uses the yellow ABS warning indicator to alert the driver of a malfunctions in the ABS.
The yellow ABS warning indicator will come on to warn the driver that the ABS has been turned off due to a symptom that exists in the ABS. Normal power assist braking remains but wheels can lock during a panic stop while the yellow ABS warning indicator is illuminated.

    -----------------------------------------
Please report back, I am curious if that is what it is. Good luck
