The AC/Cigarette Lighter/Stereo is out in my 97 Honda Accord. Is this a fuse problem or something worse?

  • Anonymous Sep 06, 2010

I did check the fuses on the inside... all are a-ok. I checked under the hood, and one fuse was blown, replaced it, but still no luck. I don't have my fuse diagram for under the hood (no owner's manual either), but there do appear to be empty slots in the fuse box. is that normal? Sorry if these seem like stupid or obvious questions. Not really a car person and can't afford to go to a mechanic.

For all to fail together it is a fuse. If the fuse blows again it is almost a certainty due to the AC beginning to fail. Try running the car without AC and see if the fuse survives. If it does and then blows as soon as you use the AC then it is likel that your air compressor is need of an overhaul

My son's 1997 Honda Accord has an aftermarket stereo that works but his cigarette lighter doesn't. Could it be a fuse?

The thing is, whoever hooked up the stereo would know for sure where the connected into in order to get power to the stereo. If they went off somewhere ealse other than what the factory made to be the power for the stereo it would make sense. In the accord for your year the power to the stereo and the cigarette lighter is the same fuse if it was hooked to the same wiring that came with the vehicle. They may have by accident disconnected the lighter and it's just not hooked up at all. You can check the fuse for the cigarette lighter if you would like. that fuse is in the fuse panel located in the engine compartment and will be in the number 18 position and sould be a 15 amp fuse ( see diagram of the layout of fuses below). If that fuse is bad and corrects the problem then they hooked up to another power source when they hooked up the stereo. I hope this helps you and good luck.

1994 honda accord can't fine fuse for my cigarette ligher to replace

In earlier model vehicles, the cigarette lighter is on the same circuit as the dash lights/ radio/ interior lights. Maybe it's not labeled as cigarette lighter, try other fuses. also, there should be a fuse panel both inside dash and under the hood. Also, sometimes there can be an in-line fuse right behind the cigarette lighter.

How to fix cigarette lighter for 1992 honda accord

Are you fixing the cigarette lighter or the socket? If the fuse is good most of the time it is a corrotion problem. Rust on the metals cause poor contact. Don't stick a metal object in there though because you will blow the fuse.

Is there a fuse for the cigarette lighter and stereo? becasue both of them stopped working all of a sudden

yes. check the back side of the fuse plate for a diagram or check them one by one. if you draw too much power from the lighter while the stereo is blasting you can loose a fuse

My child pushed in the cigarette lighter until

you could be lucky and the fuse blew, and it could be a burned wire, check the fuse panel and replace the fuse if blown, if it blows again you have to fix the wires, and possible the cigarette lighter if it got damaged
