Truck starts fine but stumbles at idle and stalls out whenever i give it any gas. This happened over night yesterday. I've changed plugs and wires and checked all the coils. I've changed MAF sensor. Checked oxygen sensors and cats are good. OBD codes 102, 171, 174, 300, 327 and 1514. Codes 171, 174 and 327 have been there for months. The others showed up yesterday when this problem appeared all of a sudden. A mechanic friend sugguested that the throttle position sensor might be bad, but i found that the truck doesn't have one. could the acceleratoe pedal position sensor casue the same problem? Any help?

sounds more like the air idle speed motor, or some call it the idle air control motor. locate it. should be somewhere on the throttle body. unplug it, and check pins on the sensor it self and see if it plugged in tight, if so, removed the motor itself. it should be nice and clean. if its all dirty with carbon deposits, looks like soot in a fireplace, use some brake and parts cleaner and clean it up real good. while cleaning, check the spring on the pintle (the part that moves in an out) if its broken, this could be the reason it would idle as it has no way to control incoming air to the throttle body. id start with that first and go from there...

dont take soo much in consideration after you have make all this things, some time is on only for any wire faulty, or a shrt electrical arc in any place in wire system. ask auto tap mechsnics for this maybe they have similar case before.

SOURCE: check engine light on computer codes 171 174

switch, we run off snitches. 171 174 banks 1 & 2 Lean. Most likely cause are Upper Intake Manifold Gaskets, failed seals. It's not 1990 on. It's 1996 and on OBD2.

K the next thing to check is the throttle position sensor. It's probably going bad. The same thing happened to me on my 1995 F250 5.8L

Hesitates at wide open throttle

Could be as simple as new wires. Try turning on the truck at night and check to see if your wires are not arching to the engine block/manifold. Trust me if the wires are bad you'll see it at night. If they are, they need to be replaced along with the spark plugs as this will foul the plugs because of impropper detonation.

Truck stalls when I give it gas

It sounds like they have got the distributor out of time. You will need to adjust the distributor. That is what it sounds like.
