The filter is behind the glove box. Remove the glove box door, squeeze the upper rear corners inward. The door will come forward, and lift it completely off. There is a release tab on the right side of the filter access door. Open that and remove the filter.

Your owners manual has a schedule of maintenance in it.
Personally I would change trans fluid/filter at 50K unless you tow or qualify as severe service user. Check fluid monthly. Pay attention for leaks. Fluid should not be cloudy in color. Water will make fluid cloudy.

Global 1207 is spot on with his help. Just did mine last weekend. Only thing I would add is that there is a tiny string cable on the right side of glove box inside that is hooked to some kind of spring in a tube behind glove box that lets glove box just not slam open. This must be disconnected from the glove box first. My access door to the filter had the real ease tab on the left hand side not the right.
