You will need to go to your local Honda Dealer. The unlock code can be obtained thru the Parts Department. You will need the VIN and proof of ownership (i.e. Title or proof of insurance). You will also need the codes that the radio gives you when you press and hold buttons 1 & 6. That will usually give you the codes, if not, then you will need to get the radio serial number. This can, usually, be found in the glove box. If not, then the radio will need to be pulled.

How to reset a radio code

Usually this happens when the battery has been disconnected or replaced. Or it's a replacement Honda radio. The Honda radio requires a 5 digit code to reset. You will need the serial number of the radio. You may need to remove the radio to get that info. Take a cellphone picture of the serial # to have it handy. Once you have the number, call your local Honda dealer and ask for the parts department. They should be able to get you the code for the radio based on the serial #. if not, you may need to take the car in for them to get you the code .

I need a code number of radio Honda Accord 1998 serial no.M97A189067

Nobody is supposed to have the complete database of codes, only authorised dealers. As a security measure, any time the battery is disconnected, the radio is Locked Out, and will not function until the security code is entered on the radio itself. Furthermore, after 3 tries, it wont even accept the code on the radio display, showing the ERR condition. Check for a sticker with the radio code inside the glove box. Some dealers fixed a second sticker in the owners manual. If not available, get the code from a Honda dealer, and be prepared to show VIN number, and proof of vehicle ownership. When you get hold of the code, disconnect the battery for 15 min. This will erase the ERR condition, and allow you to introduce the reactivation code.

Radio reset

The code in the Glove box is just the serial number to the stereo, It is not the unlock code itself. Call a Honda dealer and give them this number. They should give you the code for free. They did for me.
cheers hope that helps

I BOUGHT A 1998 HONDA TODAY AND THE RADIO IS ANTI-THEFT LOCKED. CAN YOU TELL ME HOW I CAN UNLOCK IT?

You should talk to the previous owner about the code you will need to make the radio work.
Your car’s audio system will disable itself if it is disconnected from electrical power for any reason, which must have been the case. To make it work again, you must enter a specific five-digit code in the Preset buttons. Because there are hundreds of number combinations possible from five digits, making the system work without knowing the exact code is nearly impossible.
If you had bought the car new, you would have received a card with your manual that listed your audio system's code number and serial number. Since you don't have the card, you can ask the seller for the code, or get the code number from your Honda dealer, but to do this, you will need the system’s serial number, or maybe the accord's vin number.
If your car’s battery is disconnected or goes dead, or the radio fuse is removed, the audio system will disable itself. If this happens, you will see ‘‘Code’’ in the frequency display the next time you turn on the system. Use the Preset buttons to enter the five-digit code. If it is entered correctly, the radio will start playing.
Hope this is helpful.
