Heat sensor keeps blowing air thru radiator until it cools, then cuts off. Some auto do this. If it bothers you let the engine idle a few min. after you drive it and then turn car off. When you drive your car and the engine is hot it heats up even more when you turn it off because the water has quit circulating. The fan will run til it cools. It's supposed to do that.

My son said that the temp guage was reading about 2/3 of the way hot. After he turned it off the fan kept running for a couple of minutes after he turned it off. This is on a 2007 Pontiac G6.

The fan will run after the engines has been turned off. The temperature gauge at 2/3...It normal when the engine ran for two minutes then turned off. It could have been hot day, air conditioner is running, stop and go traffic, drive really slow. many factors affect the temperature of a engines. One way the manufactures fix some of this overheating problems were to install axillary fans, also increasing the psi on the coolant system from 212 degree F, to 240-5 degree F. Buy doing this the half water/half anti-freeze will not boil off. Just make sure that the bugs are removed from the front of the radiator and the air flow isn't restricted. GB...stewbison

I cannot get the Change Oil Soon message to reset on a Pontiac G6

Chevrolet Malibu, Malibu Maxx 2004-06; 2006 HHR, Cobalt, Pontiac G6, Solstice
Turn ignition to run engine off. Display OIL LIFE RESET in the Driver Information Center (DIC). Press and hold the ENTER button for at least one second. An ACKNOWLEDGED’ display message will appear for three second or until the next button is pressed. This will tell you the system has been reset. Turn the key to OFF. If the “CHANGE ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

The second fan helps cool down the system with the a/c on. I would start the car get it to operating tempature then turn on the a/c. With in a few minutes the second fan should come on.
