2002 Audi A4 Logo
Posted on Sep 01, 2010

Guys, been having this problem for a while now. audi A4 2002 1.9tdi. Poor acceleration when taking off, very slow to reach approx. 2000rpm then when it does i get a burst of acceleration and drives ok at higher revs. Also lacking power on inclines, especially hill-starts (not good for the clutch) having to select lower gears to prevent the car stalling. I have replaced the fuel filter and the MAF unit but to no avail. all help appreciated

Acceleration (pick up) problem exisits in A4 2002 gifted to me from my son. I felt very badly whenever I stop at light signal. Solution is to take the leg slightly off the accelerator pedel
(a slight relese of pedel) and continue accelerating as usual then the gear shift will work and it will be driving good acceleration and pick up. I got this hint from my son, yesterday I tried it and is fine.

I have experienced it from the car gifted to me from my son. I complined to him over the week end he gave a solution and tried it yesterday and it works.
When you start from stop the A4 2002 will be poor in acceleration Solution: Give a slight release off the acceleration pedel and continue pushing the acceleration pedel, then it will shift to low gear and drive as other cars, solves the problem

Why wont my 2004 dodge dakota not rev past 2,000rpm

Two things to check. Fuel system and exhaust system. Hook up a fuel gauge and tape it to the windshield so you can watch the pressure while driving. Should be about 45psi. Under boost between 70 and 90 psi.

If the exhaust system has too much restriction it would also keep the engine from revving to higher rpms

I have a 2005 land cruiser. It has a slow acceleration and begins to vibrate from underneath as the acceleration increases. Can you advise please? Thanks

do you hear a loud hissing sound when you take off?
Could be the cat converter.

if not that, I've seen CV axles that caused poor take off and vibration.

let me know what you find.

Those are cylinder misfire codes. PO300 is random misfires (meaning 1+ cylinders misfired) and the other 2 codes are for cylinder #1 and 2. Did you change the ignition coils yet on 1 and 2?

p1545 is a throttle control malfuction code

You can try to reset the throttle body by opening the hood and drivers door then turning your key to the accessory position. You will hear the throttle body whir and click. It may take up to two minutes. Afterward, the car will relearn your habit of driving and adjust accordingly.

2001 Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDI

hey
well Fuel pressure will cause this concern as with a failing fuel pump, also a misfiring engine from worn plugs or defective coils will cause any bucking/jerking if u have as you try to accelerate, but this would cause a check engine lamp. A bad Mass Air Flow sensor can also cause a poor acceleration and usually does not turn on the check engine lamp.
