You have to take the vehicle to a qualified repair shop (dealer) To have check engine light diagnosed , codes are stored . Then the light will go out . So do yourself a favor an take to a qualified repair shop.
take vechicle by auto zone they will code scan it free see what causing check engine light turn on.if you replace sensor you need auto zone to erase code so check engine light stop turning on.
Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P1815 indicates that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected an electrical failure in the Transmission Fluid Presure (TFP) manual valve position switch or the circuits between this switch assembly (located INSIDE the transmission) and the PCM.
There are several Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for your transmission. One that specifically addresses this code is TSB NUMBER 03-07-30-021A
This TSB involves reprogramming of the PCM to correct certain issues associated with DTC P1815 and other DTCs.
TAKE VECHICLE TO AUTO ZONE OR ADVANCE AUTO PARTS THEY WILL CODE SCAN YOUR VECHICLE FREE.SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMING ON COULD MEAN EVAPORATIVE LEAK OR CYLINDER MISFIRE.BUT AUTO ZONE WILL SCAN IT AND TELL YOU WHAT TROUBLE CODE YOU ARE GETTING.
Hello. Actually there are a couple of ways to reset the check engine light. there are a couple ways to turn off the check engine light. The first way, which is the preferred way, is take it to a mechanic who will use a scanner and clear the codes, or you can simply unhook your battery for a few seconds, and then hook it back up. Either way will work, but if you didnt fix the problem it will come back on. NOTE: some auto zone stores, and other parts stores with scanners will do this for you as a free service.
If this is the first time the light has come on more than likely its the O2 sensor. If you want to find the code go to a Murrys Auto parts store and rent the scan tool or maybe a local auto repair shop with scan it for you for free.
