Have a 94' chevy pickup. When I press on brake pedal, left front always grabs 1st, then left, but it stops the truck. Rotors & pads are in good shape. Had differential valve replaced about 2-1/2 yrs ago. Was having same type problem then, but got better. Now it is doing the same thing. Pedal does not go to floor but seems to have too much travel when you press down on it . Any suggestions?

Flush the system and look for contaminants. If there is a bleed on the proportioning valve, also flush there. If there are contaminants, your master may need to be replaced. If not, maybe the proportioning valve has failed again.

SOURCE: Rear brakes not working proper.

e-brake pedal should go farther- is either out of adjustment or cable frozen- secondly sounds like only front brakes receiving enough pressure to "activate" properly- bleed all four brakes starting rear pass, then rear drive ,then front pass, then front drive- use plenty of fluid- bleed till fluid is clean without bubbles- will that long at first- this will insure not bubbles and no moisture- if a pro valve dies, you would have more problems- pedal would be really soft, would have both a brake light and abs warning lights

I personally never have had one braking issue, in 47 years
of doing brake work,on any vehicles

That said & not to write book here

The brake work & choice of friction material
(brake pads) was not done correctly

Very few shops remove rust from anything
Rotor mounting surfaces,wheel hub surfaces,
calipers,caliper sliding surfaces,pad siding surfaces

Then they use no lube, so pads can move & release

They don't use MFG Specific & quality pads

A proper professional job would go for at least
$300.00 for front or back,just 2 wheels

Rotor machining is critical

I think your OEM Rotors that were machined, most likely
were okey new & not a good grade of Chinese Steel to
be machining

checked out replace pads /and cut rotors if pads are glazed over [film u were told ] the pads are smoothed over from getting to hot -riding brake or stop and go traffic lot of down hill braking which ever was the cause ur brakes got over heated and glazed over and are very smooth also the heat transferred to the rotors also warped them when u get steering shake when braking 90 percent of the time its warpage in rotor and the only way is to have them removed and put on a cutter to check for out of round also abs doesnt cause this abs [anti-lock braking] is designed to transmit a pulse to ur brakes when it senses a wheel is about to lock up or skid u would feel the pulse in ur brake pedal not ur steering

I just replaced my front rotors, pads, and calipers on a 98 olds achieva. After doing this I bled the the front brakes but am now experiencing a very soft pedal. I am wondering if something else could be...

Because of the ABS system if you press the brake pedal with too much pressure then it will give you the illusion of a soft pedal. Does it feel like a soft pedal when the vehical is in motion and you then press on the brake pedal (normal)? The other thing is if your pads and/or caliper were frozen, when you changed them out. The brakes are not going to feel or brake exactly the same, after the repair. But you are there, if the pedal is real low or goes to the floor then there is still air in the system or for some reason, your master cylinder is defective.
