Passenger side windshield wiper stopped working. What may be the cause? Driver side wiper works. Both were working then the passenger side just stopped moving. It moves easily by hand.

You will need to take the cowl off and replace all of the bushings. Most auto parts stores will have them in stock.

I have a 1987 dodge van, i had the same problem except both wipers stoped moving they were both lose and could be moved by hand,
the linkage had slipped off of the wiper motor arm due to a bad bushing.
the bushing is a hard plastic, or some simular material,i bought a new one in a package of assorted bushings at the parts store. the hardest part was getting the cowl off past the hood, and the wiper blade pivots, don't forget to grease the bushing with a suitable grease or you will hear a constant anoying squeek!
P.S i think the wipers on your truck should be simular if not exactly the same (i also have a1984 prospector)
Hope you get it fixed!

One windshield wiper not working

Maybe the nut that hold the wiper to the linkage is either loose or stripped? The linkage itself is bad?

I think your wiper motor is fine because the passenger side works and uses the same motor to move the wipers.

Passenger Side Windshield Wiper Broken

Hi Jill,
The first thing to check is a 13mm nut that holds the wiper arm in place.See if you can move the wiper arm freely back and forth. There is a nut at the base of that wiper arm,Lift up a cover that is hiding the nut. If it comes loose from being froze from ice or snow. Put the wiper in its rest position and tighten the nut back up.

Passenger Windshield Wiper Not Working

If it were the motor neither side would move. Chances are its the linkage.
You'll probably need to remove the panel under the windshield to access the linkage and check it out.

1999 plymouth voyager van windshield wipers

Either the wiper arms are loose or stripped on the pivots or the wiper linkage is broken. Try tightening the arm to pivot bolt. If that doesn't work, remove the plastic cowling and examine the linkage. You can buy new linkage for it.

2009 Touareg passenger side windshield wiper arm does not move but driver side does

sounds like the connecting rod between both wiper arms either broke or one of the keepers popped off under the connector for that arm..since the wiper system IS NOT designed to wisk snow off the window once accumulated, this can an does happen.. even seen motors get burned out doing this..cleaning the window first will save this issue and the equiptment. need to acess this arm<take off the vented peice below the windshield and everything should be visible there..repost findings

The windshield wiper driver side does not move. Passenger side does. How do I get to it?

The wiper motor must be directly linked to the passenger side wiper, and the driver side wiper gets its action from the passenger motion. probably the linkage from passenger wiper to the driver side wiper must be the problem. Under the dashboard you can check it, the linkage must be snapped off. (safety first)
