SOURCE: 2001 300m overheating problem.

When the vehicle overheats, do u check the water/coolant level in the radiator? If it has reduced, it means ur leaking and u should inpsect to c where the leak is coming from. If the level has remained the same, probably ports are blocked or something to that effect. Keep me posted though

Check your oil dipstick for coolant, or a mucky substance. Your symptoms sound like a blown head gasket.

SOURCE: 99 300m overheated today now fans wont turn on

Have you found the reason for the overheating? Other than a stuck-closed thermostat, maybe the fans were not working before. First suspect for the fan problem is the thermal sensor located near the thermostat housing on the engine. Try turning on the A/C system--that should start both fans immediately. If they do, that eliminates the fans, relay, fuse, and computer. If they don't come on, check that both fans turn freely and check the fan fuse in the fuse compartment. The relay is a solid state device that should be located near the fans on the driver's side. If the relay has a browned look, it is probably fried. Make sure to blow out the radiator core with compressed air (from the engine side) to get rid of collected bugs and other debris. Hope this helps track down the problem.

MY fluid in resevoir is bubbling in my 99 A4, just had timing belt and water pump replaced a month ago anything????

1. Possible air lock in the cooling system, does the internal fan blow hot air? You can blead the system through small bleeding points on the water hoses.

2. Head gasket gone, do the water pipes to the rad expand under pressure?

3. Faulty thermostat. Thermostat controls the amount of water directed to the rad.

Let me know how it goes.

I have a 2001 crysler 300. I just got a new radiator and the transmission coolant box. my water overflow tank keeps boiling and i would like to know if it's a major job to fix it and what am i loo

Could be a vapor lock in the water cooling system. Check and see if there is a bleeder screw on the system. most are located on the thermostat housing.. may have it or may not. If fan is electric make sure it is connected and working properly. Could be that the thermostat is sticking also and needs to be replaced.... I have found that in some cases when replacing a radiator that the cap doesnt fit right and would only be the case if radiator has a cap. Worst case would be that water pump is bad and does not have to leak to be bad.. Sometime the water impeler that moves the water through system which is on the waterpump simply stops working.. could also be blown head or head gasket.....These are all thing that can make it overheat..My suggest is to try simple thing first. 1. make sure fan is working 2. check with auto store and see if your cars coolant system requires bleeding for vapor lock. 3. replace thermostat and radiator cap if it has one....If none of these work then comes the money if you need to replace waterpump or head or head gasket. more than likely nits not these two but im just giving all possible thing it could be.....good luck and if you find this info helpful then Please leave a rating on this post.....anymore problems fill free to contact me...

Overheating Express

is it acually getting hot or is it just the gauge on the dash saying so? a quality scan tool can show you what the coolant temp sensor is telling the pcm it may differ from the gauge.

1999 Chrysler 300M overheating

I am having the same prob. on 04 300m 83,000 mi. I am a chrysler tech and another tech at my shop had the same problem a week ago. Mine started when i Was on the thruway my guage crept up to 3/4 so i kicked the heat on and it went normal. After stopping I found the water pump went and was leaking bad. I replaced the waterpump timing belt and tensioner pulley. thought it was good untill on a long trip. Noticed temp goin up no leaks this time, coolant full. doesnt overheat with heater on. Actuated fans with DRB3 and both work and are working when car says its overheating. Replaced thermostat and bleed system. thought it was ok untill drove 35mi. suspecting bad wiring plugged radiator or coolant temp sensor. Still driving with heat on low to keep from overheating. any others fix this problem yet?

I have an overheating problem.what could be wrong

Overheating can be casued by a few things.

1)Thermostat
2)Water pump
3)Dirty coolant clogging the pump

A thermostat is the cheapest part to replace, a thermostat opens and closes allowing coolant into the motor as needed to keep it cool, if it gets stuck closed then it doesn't allow any coolant into the motor thus overheating.

A water pump is what pumps your coolant around the system, and if this goes no coolant moves thus overheating. Usually when these go bad they leak coolant and are also noisy when bad.

Lastly could be bad or dirty coolant, a coolant flush can take care of this.

If I were you I would start with the thermostat followed by the coolant flush, both of these can be done in your driveway.

Hope this helps
