I have a 1993 olds regency with 250000 miles on it. the transmission was overhalled about 30000 miles ago. A year ago when I was in Mississippi the air temp was 106 degrees. the car would not shift into overdrive until we went thru a thunderstorm about 3 hours later and the temp dropped about 30 degrees. It has been running fine until a few days ago when we took a day trip of 90 miles one way.The air temp was mid 80's.After setting about 2 hours we headed back home and the car would not shift into overdrive all the way home. The next morning when I took it to the transmission shop it ran fine,as it has since. The shop couldn't find any thing wrong. It had a DTC code 39 ,tcc problem which was cleared. Other than the overdrive problem it ran and shifted fine.I would appreciate any help that you can give me. Thank you, Glenn Pike

This problem has only happened two times in the past thirteen months. The car does'nt shift into 4th gear which is overdrive. I don't know if the converter locks up but don't think it does. The TCC solonoid does'nt control the 3 to 4 shift. If it was the solonoid and especially the screen were bad wouldn't it happen more often and at more varing temps? glpbap43

    Hi,

The problem you have is the TCC solenoid in the transmission which you need to get checked/cleaned as this is the reason you are having this problem.

There is one other area that could be causing this problem also and that is the TCC filter but this is also in the transmission and is under the TCC solenoid, so either way just get this 2 components checked and tested and then you will be fine after that.

Hope this helped, let me know if you need more infor mation.

    Thanks

    Jason

Low compression on 1994 lexus es 300 on some cylinders

I would suspect the belt again. You may want to pull the cover and check the marks on the gears. One of the cams could have jumped a few teeth.

I have a 2003 chev 3500 truck with a 6speed manual duramax 250000 miles New clutch and transfer case at 206000. 30 days ago had driveshaft replaced, 2 weeks ago driveshaft bracket came off on freeway. ...

Excessive wear on clutches is usually from alot of heavy hauling, pulling heavy trailers. 40,000 miles is real excessive. If you can, I would take the access cover off the bottom of the bell housing and check to see if the pressure plate bolts aren't backing out. When the clutch was replaced they should have (or I would have ) used a thread lock on these bolts. There is always a lot of vibration in this area, and I have seen these bolts back out, on manual and automatic transmissions.

Do i need to change the fluid, 145k miles, no problems

Which fluid are you talking about? Recommended oil change is every 3000 miles, recommended transmission fluid change is about every 30000 miles, coolant is about 3 years or 36000 miles

1993 Suburban 4 speed automatic transmission shifts hard front 1st to second. Transmission is 3 years old, 15,000 miles. It is a factory rebuilt.

That should be the L60-4 truck version
Have the sedan version, 93 Caprice.
That was the first year of the new electronic shifting transmission.
Especialy when cold she will shift hard, but it's normal.
But that depends on what you call normal.
I have gotten used to it over the last 17 years.

Transmission does not shift into 3rd and/or overdrive

Well, you could try changing the speed sensor, or modulator valve, which ever that model has. And change the filter and fluid. If it's plugged many of the problems you describe could occur. Good luck.

1993 Saturn SL2 will not shift into highway gear

Saturn says and I quote

there transmission fluid is not to be changed after the first change at 6000 miles.

Now I say it should be changed at every 30000 miles. If changing out the fluid doesn't work then you need to go to a transmission repair shop.
