My catalytic converter is haveing 'sputering problems" my dealer says it is covered by the factory. But when i bought it about a year ago the 2004 wrangler was modified with a welded skid plate and a modifyed ex. Dealer says it will not pay for having a welding shop take off skid plate and catalytic converter. if the cat converter is covered by factory warrenty, should they not pay for getting to it??

The dealer is paid a fixed price by the factory to perform warranty work. This price is normally less than the normal cost of doing the repair. Because he is already losing money on the repair he is not going to do any extra work to accomplish the repair especially if the extra work is not something that is factory made.
You are lucky he is even willing to make the repair because most dealer's refuse to warranty anything that has been modified from factory and the factory will back them up. They lay the blame on the modification. I'm afraid you'll have to do what he says if you want the work done. Hope this helps.

05' Dodge RAM 1500 code p0420. I've been changing oxygen sensors since u bought it 2 years ago, thought the problem was solved but yet again check engine light came on, could there be an other problem??

Hello: Code P0 420 indicates the catalytic converter is operating below calibrated efficiency (below 60%) replacing the oxygen sensors will not correct the condition. The converter needs to be replaced and the code cleared.

Check engine light on 2004 Sedona. Codes reat catalytic converter, exhaust, etc. Car has only 65,000 miles on. Just passed inspection less than 24 hrs prior to light coming on. Can this be anything...

I would suggest checking with dealer as most KIAs have a 100,000 mile warranty and catalytic converter as part of the emissions equipment should be covered.

What is the manufacturers warranty for the catalytic converter?

You know there is an 8 year 80,000 mile requirement under Federal Law.
If you call a dealer, they can tell you if Chevrolet has anything beyond that.
Google "8-80 catalytic converter"

Po420 code monte carlo ls 2001

PO420 code is for catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1) Usually it means that it is time for a new catalytic converter on bank number 1. Cylinder bank number 1 is always the bank with the number 1 spark plug in it.

I am getting a code p0420 on my madza rx8 2005 the code states faulty catalytic converter I had the converter replace 2 to 3 years ago will it be time for another one

Yes, Have the dealer check and verify before buying one. Make sure all is good, that nothing is "killing" your converter.

Errors concerning engine light on mentioning catalytic converter fault

All catalytic converters have a life time warranty, however, a shop will charge you $200 per converter or more, depending on how many are on the vehicle. Had to replace 4 on my 1996 mercury. If you have access to a cutting torch its easy to remove the converters and to replace. May want to rent one if you intent to do the job yourself. However, doing the job yourself may void the warrant on any more converters.

Catalytic converter is bad on 1995 Subaru Legacy L Wagon

dearship parts are high.you can buy a factory catalytic converter or universal converter cheaper at auto parts place.they basic the same parts the.dealership has same catalytic converter.they put their price and labor rate charge an hour your pocket book will be empty.i have used universal catalytic converter.had no problem with it.the only difference is universal converter body a little shorter.but has same lengh as factory.if check engine is coming on you cant turn it off .if computer showing you a code.you could have a misfire causing rich exhaust emission.that can ruin a catalytic converter have it scan.dealership charge you about $130.00 .you can have it scan at advance auto or auto zone.to see what pcm code is.it could be oxygen sensor somethinh minor.

Intermittant P0136

OK Thad code PO136 is your oxygen sensor the one before the catalytic converter and yes if your you bought your car brand new
from the dealer ship yes you are covered by the factory warranty
but if you got it from a used car dealer then you are not.

If you are not covered the good news is than that is not so hard to change.
all you need is a jack a oxygen sensor tool ( you can get it as a loaner on Auto Zone no charge ) and a new oxygen sensor.

If you don't know how a catalytic converter looks like click this link
good luck.
