My car was running fine. shut it off and tried to restart it 15 minutes later - cranks, sputters but will not start. has spark and good fuel flow. throttle body looks ok. changed plugs and injectors. when i crank it, it sputters and all of the warning lights on my dash start blinking. the headlights look as if they are lighting up. the car runs, sputters, bogs out and the dies - will not hold an idle. help?????

Not sure if you have one fitted but if it runs while the key is in the start position but dies when you let it back to the ignition position it could be an open circuit ballast resistor. Can you smell unburnt fuel? What voltage is the battery at?
Not sure why the warning lights would blink.

Charlie. You have replaced the ECM on your van?.
Kedwin,, Your problem is, the computer on that 3.3 L.
Need to be programed with the VIN nember of your car.
The Antitheft System will disable the injectors due a incorrect VIN, Bucause the body computer is not recieve the correct pasword between 5 seconds after start up.
YOU have 2 options. 1 get a ALOHA Smith. some of they have the computer required to program ECMs.

The other option is: Get a new ECM from the dealer, They will program if ask for that.

NOTE:::::: Other way is . Put the body control module with the computer from the same car.

turn the key to the on position a see if you can here a buzzing sound around the fuel tank,if you don't hear a sound then. (be very careful while doing this) with the key off take a fuel line coming from the tank loose,make sure its pointed away from you and turn the key to the on position,see if any gas comes out,if not then your fuel pump is probably bad.

SOURCE: no injector pulse, no current to the injector

Check the pickup in the distributor as this is the cam sensor. The injectors run of the pulses created while the rotor is turning around. It should be a plastic disk located under the rotor button.

SOURCE: throttle body injectors not fiering but there is fuel pressure

the injectors are fired thru the engine cotrol module but it gets its signal to fire from the pick-up located inside the distributor if you are loosing injector pulse only the ignition module is bad if you are also loosing spark when you loose injector pulse your pick up is causing the problem if you replace the pick-up i recomend you change the ignition module when doing so because they work together and you have to remove the distributor to change the pick-up

SOURCE: 95 dakota cranks but wont start

Well I'm a chrysler master tech & this is a little odd. There's alot of things not in the question so here are mine. I'm assuming it's a 3.9 no 4wd. When did this happen? When you check for power do you have some one turn the key on while you check? If still no power then make sure all the fuses are good from the one under the hood to the one inside the cab. Next be sure to check the grounds. You'll need to by a manual like a Haynes in order to get a decent wiring diagram. In a worst case senario the main power box under the hood has an issue & the asd relay gets no power,hence no start. Ran into it on a 95 caravan & it took a week to figure it out & no replacement was available & I had to hard wire it so it would run. Hope this helps.

The basics for a rough idle, you check for a leak of some kind. Fuel--egr--vacuum leak, something of that nature. Did you check for applicable trouble codes before changing any parts?

Mass air flow , crank sensor . I wouldn't discount anything . Having a scan tool that can view engine sensor data would be a great help too , testing fuel pressure and flow and back pressure test the exhaust .

My 99 ford escort was running perfectly fine and after I turned it off I went to start it up again about 45 mins later and it wouldn't turn over. Only sputtering. Now the car wont turn over.

This could be a wide variety of problems. To get the simple things out of way:
Check for spark
Check that you have fuel getting to the motor

If all that is good disconnect your mass air flow sensor and see if it starts, if it does start you need a new mass air flow sensor

No spark you need new coils

No fuel maybe a fuel pump

well alot of questions .. is it getting spark is it getting fuel ? try this shoot a little starting fluid into the air cleaner while cranking and see if it starts and runs .. if so its a fuel problem .. then go from there. thanks Jerry holler if you need more.

Engine Floods after brief start and run when cold -then shut off

Local mechanic determined engine was flooded and started it by holding throttle to the floor and cranking 5-7 seconds - then the engine sputtered to life. It has run perfectly before and since and I'm at a bit of loss to understand why this occurred this one time - so far. It's been driven now 5 days with no problems.

Sputters on initial startup and again also 15-20 minutes after shutoff and restart

fuel pump, clogged fuel injectors, bad gas.... could also be a timing problem among other things depending on what you mean by sputtering.... my advice find a shop that will diagnose the car for free( like AAMCO). hope this helps :)
