To replace a knock sensor on a 1998 pathfinder is a big job.
you have to take out the whole intake manifold, so you can reach the sensor.
if you want to do it by yourself \, first you should have ready all the tools and parts.: including a torque wrench and a set of intake manifold gaskets. you can try here autopartsway.ca for some good cheap parts.
and be ready to work few hours if you do not have much experience as a automotive mechanic.
so, good luck, if you did not do it already.

What will happen if your knock sensor wire are not being connected and your error code p0325 keeps coming back after you reset the code?My truck is nissan pathfinder 1998 xe model.

DO NOT EVER change a knock sensor. It is a total waste of $600 and will do it again. It is not harmful to get this code. Usually, it means you have broken motor mounts, typically the right side. Do not use aftermarket, they fail quickly.

Getting codes P0325 and P0420. Where to start?

Hi,

code P0325 is for knock sensor and it looks like is a common problem with these engines. You might need to replace the knock sensor, and this is a few hours job for a qualified mechanic. You can try first using a high grade gasoline, but I doubt it will fix the problem.
code P0420 -right bank -B1 three way catalyst function.
possible cause for P0420:
-you might have a hole in the exhaust tube
- you might have some intake air leaks
- injectors leaks
-spark plugs
check first for some damage exhaust tube.or it might be related to code p0325, as a change in timing dictated by knock sensor malfunction.
hope this will help.
Good luck.

Clean your mass air flow sensor with electrical contact cleaner. It's located between your air box and intake when it gets dirty it tricks your car into thinking it's getting less air than it is

What is a knock sensor used for on a 1997 pathfinder?

Its a sensor that is tied into the ecu of the truck. When the engine begins knocking (pinging) it sends a signal to the vehicles computer and the computer retards the timing to eliminate the pinging.

How to replace a knock sensor on nissan pathfinder 1998

It's located deep in the valley! Under the "LOWER intake manifold". copy and paste this link in your browser, or try clicking on it. It may be helpful to you.

I didn't find this link until after I had already disassembled my truck. This is the hardest job that I've taken on thus far, hope I can put it all back together properly. I changed the gaskets on the valve covers since I had everything off.
To answer your question: It's under your lower intake manifold, so it's a hard job!
