My 2006 ford 150 super crew front brakes seem to be flaking off? When I look at my front tire wheel covers I find residue on the wheel covers, I do not ride my brakes in traffic, what is the problem, just started a few weeks ago. I have 70000 kms and had brakes checked and was told the brakes have about 50% left, more highway miles as I have second car for city driving. Garry

It's not uncommon to find brake dust on the wheel covers. If it is excessive, one possibility is that the pistons are sticking in the caliper bores. Jack up a wheel and give it a spin with your hand. If it spins easily, then all is well. Check your wheel bearing play while you have it jacked up. There shouldn't be any significant looseness. 70,000 km and only halfway through the pads sounds good. Cheers!

There is help in the link. It probably needs removing and taking to an audio tech.

2006 Ford F250 Super Duty King Ranch Diesel four wheel drive automatic, intermitent front brake drivers side binds and drags, caliper gets too hot to touch. OK after it cools off, 10 to 20 minutes. ...

About the only thing left is to replace the caliper. I've seen a few times, but not common. Piston gets bound on corrosion in caliper and doesn't retract completely.

Steering wheel shakes above 40mph, what could be wrong 2006 f250 4x4 crew cab stock tires and wheels 100,000 miles also not much response in steering above 55mph

the wheel shaking sounds like a wheel balancing problem and the no steering response is either some loose ball joints or a bad gear it will need to go to the shop for both

2006 ford escape - abs and 4wd lights on yesterday - off today - brakes checked - ok - right turn makes grinding noise with slight application of brake -

the grinding nose you heard was something rubbing on the rotor, bad brakes, caliper, after market wheels, etc. the pressure of a turn bends something enough to touch, this is produceing metal flake that attached to the magnetic sensor on the abs sending a light on because it couldn't read the tire position as it turned, it may have got blown off, washed off, but when it can read the tire again the light will go off, i would look into the grinding noise on cornering thats the cause of the problem. hope this helps
