How to release hood latch from locked dead battery 2004 Pacifica

To open the hood of a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica with a dead battery, try these steps:
Find hood release lever: Usually located on left side of driver's footwell near the hood release cable.
Jump-start battery: Connect battery to another car's battery if it's completely dead. This will provide enough power to release the hood latch.
Use manual release: If jump-starting is not possible, consult owner's manual for manual release location.
Get help: If unsuccessful, call for help from a tow truck or mechanic.
Caution: Make sure the car is in park, emergency brake is engaged and engine is off before opening the hood.

I made a very dumb mistake this afternoon with my 2004 Nissan parthfind......The battery is dead so I had to jump start the truck, and I hooked up the positive and negative backwards. The second that I...

Difficult to tell- You have ended up with a battle between the two batteries and had a huge current flowing between them, hence the bad smell. It does not mean however you have dumped minus 12 volts onto the wiring loom, and if the engine still starts then the ECU has taken it OK. You need remove the battery, and try and charge it on the bench. If it wont charge then its likely you have bent the internal lead plates and the battery will be scrap. You wont really tell what else has been damaged untill you have another good charged battery connected and can test everything. Personally I would go with a new battery just to be on the safe side. Andy.;-)

2004 altima it was cross jumped by mistake and made a popping noise..... my car is compltely dead.. i bought a new batery and still dead

Look at the master fuse panel in the engine bay. Pull the Relay/Fuse cover from the box and look to see what blew.

In the future - if you MUST give someone a jump, make sure your car is OFF when hooking up the cables. If there was no huge arcing - then start your car and let it charge the other vehicle for a few minutes or more before trying to start it.

Let's hope you did not blow your ECU.

2004 nissan altima 2.5s, engine wont start maybe battery, but wont even boost now....

It may not start now because the battery is completely dead. Take your battery to an auto parts store and have it checked. Chances are, since 2004, you may need a new one. Good Luck

Car is completely dead, like somebody shot it dead! No sounds, no light, can't shift out of park into neutral or anything....everything completely dead...no warning whatsoever!

Always clean the battery terminals before jumping. An extremely dead battery may not accept a jump as it serves as a 'buffer" instead of helping. If you do get it started, charge battery with a battery charger then have alternator and battery tested for proper operation and check belt condition and tension as well.
