Security light in.car runs fine, but light won't go out. what do i need to do to get light to turn off

Check all of your major fuses for power with a meter or test light.

Well it could be several different things. The security system, the neutral safety switch, the starter, a bad connection, and so on.

The gas u put I'm the tank was high octain if it was it was making the engine fire to early replace the gas and it should wor properly

Loose battery connections or battery with bad cells. Go to Auto Zone and let them check your battery.

check fuel presure if its good check for security light/codes

If your security light is flashing the alarm is active you need to deactivate it

This car is equipped with Passlock antitheft security by GM. You dont have a chip, but there is a transponder in the key head. This system is known to fail. The fact that the security light is on proves the failure of the Passlock and why it wont run. The hard part is finding out which part of the passlock system has failed. sounds like the 2 wires on the lock cyl are broken you have to remove steering wheel, lock plate and turn signal switch to get to the lock cyl then the 2 wires run from the key lock cyl to under dash so you will have to run them into the steering column you do need special tools to replace the lock cyl

I had the same problem at one time and what the problem was is a short or an exposed wire connected to the starter which causes the voltage to fluctuate which in turn activates a security feature that stops the flow of fuel to the injectors. The car actually senses the possibility of a spark which could possibly ignite the fuel and be a fire hazard. If you turn the ignition on and off repeatedly after a certain amount of time the car will start and run fine. It is a very intermittent problem.
