Heater core removal on a 99 ford expedition

To remove the heater core on this truck the entire dash must be removed, the A/C drained, and the coolant drained, once the dash is out you can access the environmental station, which houses the a/c and heater cores. The heater hoses to the core and a/c lines to evaporator core are quick disconnect and require a special tool. After removing the environmental station, disassemble the station by removing the screws, then you will be looking at the inside of the station, the core on the left side is the heater, the door is the blend door, and the core on the right is the a/c core. Re-install in reverse of disassembly, fill coolant and charge a/c. If you are not comfortable with this depth of repair I would find a reputable repair shop in your area and take it in for this repair. Hope this helps, let me know.

When I turn the key on in my 99 Expedition Guages go to maximum

probably when heater core replaced instrument cluster was damaged. check for broken wires or loose connections. on newer vehicles sometimes if you disconnect the instrument cluster you have to reprogram it with a scan tool for the car to recognize it.

the best I can recommend at this time is go to auto zone and ask if they can provide a diagram print out for you I have a Haynes book and it states: to pull off the cover of the heater core/evaporator core housing it has small screws and then pull the blend door assembly out to expose the heater core

Diagram bypass heater cord on 2001 ford expedition eddie bauer

the heater bypass is quite simple, if you look at the firewall you will see two medium sized coolant lines, remove them from the firewall and link them together using a proper sized tube, you can purchase a kit at a parts store quite cheaply
