Engine light came on. Car has 53000 miles. No noticeable prob when driving. What could light mean?

Likely head gasket failure. Oil level appears high because coolant is leaking into oil. This dilutes the oil causing the knocking. Oil usually looks brown or foamy when this happens. Park it now.

If the oil level (checked with the dipstick) is VERY high, and the oi on the dipstick looks like chocolate milk (or just after running, foamy chocolate milk), this usually means either the head gasket is blown, or the cylinder head or the engine block is cracked, allowing the engine coolant to mix with the engine oil.

how about the fuel filter.is it fuel injected or carbed

is it a buzzing type sound? That can happen both the driver and passengerside. there is a white clip that locks the dash to the firewall. you need to get at it as stick a piece of felt to stop the vibration. but it is very tough to reach..
