I have a 2004 Chevy Aveo. The rear turn signal light is out. I un-screwed the 2 screw on the exterior of the light cover. I cannot remove the cover. I pull and pull but no luck. On the inside of the trunk are 4 white posts associated with the light element. Do I need to remove these as well? If so, do I use pliers to pull them off or a hammer to punch them in? Thanks, Bbob

SOURCE: Rear blinker does not work need to access bulb

Your rear bulb is burnt out if you say the front one is working .. the speed up of flashing means your bulb is bad.. you might have to get in the trunk and unscrrew those hand wing nuts and push that tail light outward to get to the bulbs ... thanks Jerry and holler if you need more.

SOURCE: how to remove front passenger side interior door panel

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

SOURCE: 2004 Chevrolet Aveo Brake lights not working

A couple of days ago my brake lights on my 2004 Chevy Aveo wouldn't work, so I attempted to remove the lamp covers to check the bulbs. Also, before this my shifter would get stuck in park and could only be released by pressing the unlock gadget next to the shifter. Back to the brakes...Well, you open the trunk and remove the two screws just like the manual said, but it was very hard to pull off. There's 2 prongs holding the other half of the light on. The lamp will come loose by prying it (very hard). You think the cover will break, but it'll come loose. The bulbs were all OK.

After much frustration and internet info, the STOP LAMP SWITCH, GM#96436331 ($9.30 at Chevy dealer), which is located under the dash and has contact with the brake pedal, was defective. Once replaced, both my brake lights AND SHIFTING problems were cured. So if the brake lights suddenly don't work or you have problems getting the vehicle out of park, check the switch by pushing the prong (end that has contact with brake) of the switch in and out. If it doesn't retract smoothly...that's the PROBLEM. Good Luck.

Once you open the truck/tailgate you can see the 2 screws that need to be removed (see picture below). Once you remove the screws the whole tail lamp assembly pulls striaght out and just turn the light socket attched to the assembly and you should be able to figure it out from there. Hope this helps.....

Can't get tail light cover off

Remover the two screws and the tail light unit will pull directly out. You will need to place a flat screw drivers on the outside of the assemble and gently pry that side out of the two holders that secure the outside of the taillight. Just two pegs that fit into holes in the body.
