My 2000 montana has a belt problem it keeps coming off track and getting ate up. Replaced the tensioner already. There seems to be a wobble at the pulley area. Do you think both harmonic balancer and crank pulley need replaced or just the pulley?

Check all of the accessories that run off the belt. some may have loose or bent pulleys or the acessory itself may have come loose. Be careful to route the belt exactly as shown too. Tighten up or replace your wobbly pulleys.

Serpentine belt keeps coming off

this sure sounds as if your belt tensioner is worn out and not putting enough force into belt to keep it on the pulleys , also look (eye's only) at all the pulleys when engine running (carefull!!) see if any wobble or don't seem to round if there bad it will be obvious

My 2000 montana belt keeps moving after i adjust it why?\

If you mean the belt is riding off one of the pulleys, the usual reason is one of the pulleys is not aligned with the others.

After replacing the serpentine belt, it keeps slipping off. why

Either your tensioner has lost its "spring back" or something is misaligned or wobbling. Make sure that you have the right belt and pulleys.

Sometimes, when something is replaced the pulley is different that the one taken off, and the belt doesn't sit all the way down into the slots.

I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette and the belt that goes around the motor keeps messing up. The inner part of the belt starts coming apart. We have replaced the pulley and are on the 4th belt now. The...

Can be a sign of a mis-aligned pulley. If a pulley is not perfectly flush with other pulleys, or skewed ( cocked a bit) it will tear up your belts. This is usually caused by worn out bolt holes retaining the component or its bracket, or a worn out component causing the pulley to wobble. With the belt off, Visually check pully alignment and skew with a straight edge. Using your hands, try to make eack pulley wobble by pulling back and forth on it to feel for play in the pulley bearing. No play is acceptable for and component pulley other than very slight play in tensioner pully. Ive seen A/C compressor and alternator pulley do that type of belt damage. Mike

Serpintine belt coming off,

If this has occurred more than once the tensioner may be getting weak
look -VERY CARFULLY, WITH PROTECTIVE GEAR--
at the belt when engine is running see if any of the pulleys are wobbling
If the belt is already off --with the engine off- reach down and try to move the pulleys if one has play. that may be the culprit

Fan belt keeps shredding on 2002 pontiac montana

check by hand all moving parts, alt,ps pump, water pump, idlers, any thing the belt touches, all should move freely and smoothly, with no noise or "floppiness". check tensioners or idlers for proper action. check belt for proper groove number, check for proper length, check for proper belt arrangement. had a taurus, once, belt could be installed 2 ways and look proper but one way ate belts and another didnt. when belt label was available, you couldnt miss but with a missing label it seemed that the mechanic would install it wrong but it looked right untill you ran it. so double check belt route.

Does the tensioner tightin belt atomatically

Yes, the belt tension should adjust automatically using the strong spring in the tensioner (you can't see the spring) that keeps pressure applied to the belt.

We need to find the tension pulley for the serpentine belt where is it 2000 pontiac montana

it's located on the passenger side slightly below the water pump. follow the belt routeing and you will see it and the spring tensioner arm the pulley mounts on, They pulley itself is secured with a 15mm head bolt and can be replaced without buying the entitre arm. The square hole in the arm is where you insert a breakover bar to release the belt tension. 10ca3f8.jpg
This is what you are looking for,,, I hope this helps....and please use caution when replaceing belts, lots of "pinch points" that can hurt your hands.
