SOURCE: 1999 Ford Taurus Wagon stays in 1st gear

Most Ford Taurus wagons have a transmission that generally goes first. that's the main reason. Just something to do with the way they are built. The only advice that I could offer is either replace the tranny or just not run the a/c. Usually it's just the motor working twice as hard running the a/c and that in turn puts the computer into the phase of lower gears for the transmission. there in being the problem.

SOURCE: Automatic Gear Shifter Light Burned Out

hi.t thing to do firstly is check your fuses under bonnet and then check the fuses inside the car which are mostly under the dashboard and are easy to get to.
It could be that one of your other fuses has blown and caused this to short circuit.
Check all the fuses throughout and if they are all ok except the one that lights up the gears your in,then change that one.
It might not be that the bulb has blown at all.
If this all fails, then you will have to go through the process of taking out the centre concule which is or should only be clipped into place by self tapping screws which should just pop out with a flat ended screw driver and are easy to push back into place with your thumb.
Hope this has helped.

SOURCE: cigarette lighter don't work can't figure which fuse it is.

if your fusebox is in the panel to the right of the ignition key, the fuse is number 29, this fuse also covers other items so it maybe that either the cables have come off the back of the lighter or it is faulty if the fuse is good. hope this helps.

It sounds like your clutch is slipping. Does it do it more when the wagon is loaded or going uphill?
Most likely needs a new clutch.

SOURCE: my car has a transmission problem

Sounds like a tranny valve body problem. There's a down shift cable attatched to the throttle linkage (where the accelerater cable is). That cable may not be adjusted right. However if you dissconnect the cable from the throttle linkage try to pull the cable out to where it stops(it'll retract by itself). Then let it snap back.(repeat a couple times). This may unstick a vavle in the valve body

1994 Ford Escort 1.9L EFI SOHC 4cyl auto. trans. want go out of 1st gear,, i was driving and dropped into 1st

Check fluid level and check for any loose wires or plug-ins at the ******.
Before you give it up,add 1 can of Sea-Foam auto-transmission treatment and follow directions on the can. If it straightens up, do a fluid and filter change. don-ohio

What type of transmission fluid and how much goes in a 1994 ford escort wagon? I just had it rebuilt and they didn't put much back in it. It barley reads on the stick.

When you read it, make sure the engine and trans are hot, the vehicle is in park, and you're on a level surface.
Ford uses Mercon ATF. Just add 1/4 of a quart at a time until it reads OK on the dipstick.

Had no problems with transmission ,came to a stop put in reverse would not go put back in drive and will only go in low gear

I take it the shifter will work at all selections made. The problem pertains to the automatic shifting inside the hydralic pump only which a transmission is. if its stuck in low gear the solenoid for 2nd & 3rd gear is bad. That will leave you in 1st gear only all the time until the bad solenoid is replaced
